Pee Pee and Poopy diaper question for a almost two year old?

My daughter will be two years old next month and we are in the process of potty training her. Lately if she has to use the potty she takes her diaper off and then runs to the potty. She does this even if it is a poopy diaper and I don't know what to do. She just took off a poopy diaper and was playing with the poo poo, has anyone else been through this? Please help!

my son will be 2 1/2 in september. he was the same way. he knew what the potty was for and had used it a few times. so i got tired of the pull-up dependency. last week i started keeping him bare bottomed when we're at home and only during the day. he's had only one pee accident a day. when he takes a nap or we leave the house i put a pull-up on him and ever since i started this last week there have been no pull-up accidents at all. i was so surprised. he will only poop in the toilet now, he refuses to use the potty seat unless it's on the toilet. i put him in a diaper at night because the pull-ups leak and, yes, he does wet then, but when he wakes up the first thing he does is go pee.

Get rid of the diaper that is not helping her learn to control it. It's a diaper...get some training pants and let her get wet a few times. She will learn quickly when she has that feeling to get to the potty. Don't use the pull-ups either they are just more expensive diapers. smack her hands lightly when she does this she will tire of being pooped it halted my son when he did this

Been there, my two year old left hand prints all over her white dresser. If you think she is really ready move to pull ups or plastic pants, it will be easier for you to tell if she has done her duty to prevent future occurances. Patience is the key it will happen again until she gets it down. Going pee is easy, getting a two year old to understand pooping takes a bit longer. Good Luck.

When my son started riping his diapers off I put him in pull-ups. There were no tabs to pull and he had a hard time pulling them down. They can be inconvenient because you have to take their pants off to get a new one on, but it's better than having poop all around the house.

They do make pull-ups that attach and unattach on the sides, but she might be able to pull them apart.

both of my daughters have done this. with my oldest i figured out that if i put a onesie on her and then used a diaper pin at the bottom in addition to the snaps, she couldn't get to her diaper or pull up. it also taught her to tell me a little earlier that she had to go potty. i think it helped her sense a little better when she had to go. just make sure you use diaper pins and not regular safety pins if you try this. so far this is working with my two year old also. i'm having a baby next week though, so i have kind of given up on potty training her until after we get the new baby home and get settled into our new routine. both my 6 year old and 3 year old went back into diapers for a while when we brought home new babies with them. this time i figured it would be easier to just wait until after the baby to finish. My cousin had the same problem with her daugther well she didn't play in the poop, but the taking off the diaper part. You need to be consistant. Try pull-up traing pants or another brand of training pants. Thay are easy to pull up and down so she's not taking it off but pulling it down like underwear. This might be her way of letting you know that she isn't a baby anymore and she doesn't want to be in this bulgy diapers. Let her wear underwear for a couple of hours each day or until she gets use to it. Before you know it, this will be a thing of the past to laugh about.
