What is the easiest way to potty train boys?
Answers:
I waited until my daughter was 2 1/2. She was ready before that, but I wasn't. Although, once we were both ready, she was trained in one weekend.
Suggestions:
Buy books about going potty.
Watch videos about going potty.
Buy 2 potties - one for the bathroom and one for the room where your child plays. (If the child sees the potty often, he will be reminded that he needs to go potty.)
Buy a doll that will wet. "Train" the doll first - by that I mean, show your child that the doll wets diapers, then learns how to go potty.
Take your child shopping for "big kid underwear."
After spending some time "conditioning" your child - watching movies, playing will wetting dolls, reading books - start suggesting to your child about every 1-2 hours that she should go potty. At first it will be fun for her - then your child will become annoyed. I suggest NOT asking, "Do you need to go potty?" but instead say, "It's time to go potty!" It also helps if you go potty first then have your child do the same. Child should wear pull-ups during this phase.
Finally, after a few weeks of going potty, spend 3 days at home. DON'T GO ANYWHERE! Take the pants, diapers, etc OFF. Let your child go without pants on for the first 2 days. (You may want to pick up any rugs and keep your kid off the furniture.) Accidents will happen! But probably only a couple of times the first day. Your child will begin to recognize when her body is "telling" him he needs to go potty. On the third day, put the big kid undies on and see how he does.
Keep in mind: your child should wear pull-ups at night (unless she's not wetting during the night - then just let him wear undies and deal with the occasional accident). Limit the liquids your child drinks during the 3 day training and thereafter. Know that your child will have the occasional accident after training, but don't get angry.
And - reward your child with something he likes when he goes potty. I used M&Ms - one for pee and 3 for poop.

Cheerios.... ok, I'll explain. Throw a cheerio in the toilet, lil boys love to hit it when they pee. You can buy little targets also, but cheerios are so much cheaper. If you make bathroom time fun, they'll want to be in there. Good luck!
I second the cheerios answer.
TAKE THEM TO THE POTTY WITH YOU.. HAVE HIM WATCH THEN PUT HIM UP TO THE POTTY TO SHOW HIM.. EVERYTIME YOU GO TAKE HIM.
Kids potty train themselves, you just have to give them the tools and let it happen. Trying to force the issue will only lead to drama and trauma.
You can throw some fruitloops or cheerios in the water and let him try to "sink" them with pee.
GOOD LUCK!!! it took me forever to get my son to go on the potty. well not really but it seemed like it lol ... easiest way i found was to have him sit like a girl so he could actually make it in the toilet! most boys arent tall enough to reach and sometimes they dont have enough time to grab "the stool" and have many accidents.
They say it's harder to potty train boys vs. girls. I think it just depends on the kid. I started potty training my son at 2 and he was completely trained by 2 1/2 except at night time.
I would recommend not using pull-ups except at night. Just be prepared to go thru several outfits the first couple of days.
At home I would set the kitchen timer every hour and when it beeped it was potty time. I taught him to sit down since I wasn't sure if he had to pee or poo. Then he would put a sticker on a chart even if he didn't go at all, I rewarded him for trying.
I would also recommend getting in the habit of trying before you leave the house, when you get to where ever and again when you leave some place. Carry stickers with you so they still get their reward.
At daycare they pretty much did the same way, lots of reminders, sticker rewards and even had the other kids clap for them when they went.
Good Luck!
i agree with letting him watch u so he knows what to do and how and give him candy or something when he does
My sister had my nephew trained at 16 mo. My dad has a swimming pool & she taught him never to pee in the water. Instead he got out & peed in the gravel. When the weather turned cold, she put gravel in his potty seat & instructed him to "pee on the rocks." He loved it.
I tried the reward system with my kids and grands. I got them brand new 'big kids' undrewear, and when ever they peed in the potty they got 3 smarties and whenever they pooed, they got 6 smarties. they also got 3 smarties for telling me they had to go before they went in their pants. there were a lot of wet pants the first few weeks, but they were all trained by 2 years old. What ever you do, don't scold them for going in their pants.
the girl in your first answer was right cherios work wonders, but with that add candy for him being a big boy and doing a good job...make potty fun
it is leting them c u when u r on the pot r siting with them like my baby she likes books
