If a virginia birth cert does not have the seal impressed is it llegal?

My son is reg. for Kdgr, tommorow, and the birth cert. does not have an impressed seal on it, only a picture of the seal, Is that ok? Is that the right one, I dont think I ever got another one. Should I get one with the seal on it?

Answers:
I live in Virginia and my 2year old son's birth certificate does not have a raised seal.It has the "water mark",where you hold it up to the light and can see an image. Its legal because it came from the Commonwealth of Virginia.Check and see if your son has the image. If you received it through the Commonwealth of Virgina I am sure it is fine.I think they are just getting away from the old raised seal and moving on to other things to help keep people from being able to make fakes.Just like they started doing with money.

Other Answers:
Absolutely...go to your city or town hall, and get it with the seal.Anyone could fake anything without it.
I know some states do not have a raised seal on their cert - sometimes just a sticker or stamp of a seal. (Have no idea what Virginia's looks like).
Good luck!
