How do you get someones tongue off something frozen?

I was with my 2 toddlers in the frozen food section of the grocery store, when suddenly one of them decided to lick the shelf!I didnt see that coming - let me tell you! Her tongue stuck and there was nobody else around to ask for help.I would have asked someone to run and grab coffee or hot water from the coffee bar,but as my little girl just turned two, she really didnt understand to hold still and consequently wound up ripping her tongue off the shelf.Bloody mouth and shelf- really yucky!Id like advice, but please no answers fron non parents about watching them better - I feel bad already, and I only have two eyes. Thanks!

Answers:
Since you are mom, I would spit on it. If it was someone else, I think I would yell for someone to get water.

Other Answers:
You could either spit, or pee on it

I know it's gross, but it hurts less than ripping your tounge out of your head

All you have to do is pour a little warm water over the tongue and the frozen metal. The tongue will come loose. You don't really need scalding hot water. Warm water, which is already well above 32 degrees, should be sufficient.

hmm.. call the doctor

cut it off...

I hope no one lectures you about watching your daughter better. Things like this happen. Obviously you were right there.

This probably wont happen again, but if it would, pouring any liquid on the tongue would help melt the ice and allow you to free your child. Please dont use hot water! Any drink would work because it is above freezing, so it would melt the ice...even something cold.

Pouring warm water on it was the best thing to do! Warm water! And as a mother of 4,Things get better as they get older. Be Blessed!

rub your hands together and get them warm put your fingers near her tongue or breath near ner tounge to warm it up and hopefuly melt the ice near her tounge next time put them in a shopping cart built for kids
