how do i get my 2 y o son to stop using binky?
Answers:
I used the "Binky Fairy" story...Right after her 2nd birthday I told my daughter to put all her binks in a basket by her bed and that after she fell asleep the "binky fairy" would come and get them to take them to all the new babies that needed them, and that the "binky fairy" would leave her a Big Girl toy to replace them...it worked and she talked non stop the next day about what a big girl she was and how all her binks went to little babies because she was too old for them...if this does not work try cutting a whole in the end, it worked for a friend of mine.
No matter how hard it gets just hang in there...good luck!!!

cut a little hole in it and he will suck air nd will give it up
Take it away, and when he asks for it , change the subject, play a game, he will cry alot at first, but it won't take long before he forgets about it, promise!
my parents put a hole in it and then when i sucked on it the stuff inside come out and i never touched one again
start by allowing him to only use it in his room. Then only allow him to use it in bed. Then, once he is only using it in bed (probably about 2 wks or so) just cold turkey it. You will have one sleepless night but thats it. good luck.
Throw them all away and if he results in sucking his thumb get the item at walgreens that they use for bitting nails its works
take it away
take it away from him
take it away or cut a hole in it.
good luck!
Make him throw them all away, we did that with the bottle for my son and it worked.
The best way is cold turkey. Make a big deal of throwing it away with your child (have them throw it in the trash) then reward them for being a big boy/girl. When they ask for it later on remind them that they threw it away because they are such a big girl/boy and don't give in to them. It will be hard but eventually they will forget all about it.

Two boys. . . 2 years and 5 months
I told my little one that binkys were only for bedtime and that's what we did when she fell asleep she really never sucked on it cause she was sleeping. After about a week of that i told her she was a big girl now and that big girls don't use a binky and she gave it up just like that.
My brother was throwing his up in the air and then it just never came down. My parents told us the binky grinch stole it. That was the last one he had ever.
put musterd on it
Putting a hole in it will not solve anything..but will actually make your child gassy...and give then colic....which is worse than just using a binky....your child will let good in good time...they always do. Probably just using it 4 comfort... :) Im a mother of 5...ranging from 13 to 10mths..trust me you dont want a baby with colic...but the binky story comment is good!
Limit to only naptime & bedtime. (Basically that it cannot leave his room.)
Then slowly get it to just bedtime.
Then take it away at bedtime.
OR Cold Turkey. Be prepared for a few weeks of screaming matches and what not...but it will go away. Also when the Binky goes away...give him another lovey a bear maybe or something else like that.

Personal Experience 2 ex Binky Boys. A 4 year old and a 3 year old.
I cut the nipples off of the ones my oldest daughter used. Once she couldn't get it in her mouth, she'd just throw it. She would be frustrated for a while, but it worked out.
each child needs a sense of security something that comforts them ...i have found that children who form an attachment to something have less fear and develop a strong sense of self worth.. just thought I'd give you another option

Not sure about the hole but this is what I did my baby is like her mommie about germs....So I put some chocolate on it told her it was germy she freaked alittle I simply said Wow what should we do now she honest to goodness took it and threw it in the garbage and later in the night she said pie pie that's what it was called I said remember what you did with it...it had that stuff on it she thought about and layed down on my chest that was it! Personally I would try something where they make the decision than something like deception it's not trustworthy!
Go Cold Turkey! You will have many crying fits. But try to splain to your son that the binkys are for babies and he is no longer a baby and tell him you are giving his binkys away to the babies and thank him for being such a good sport about it cause he is making the babies happy.
I never gave my son a binky EVer ..for this very problem that you are having and most of the mothers out there!
ohh and you should stop with the binky immediately at his age. NOt good for his teeth!!
Don't give it to him anymore. It's very hard to b/c I know I had that problem with my daughter. I took it away a couple of days before she turned one. I was hard b/c that's how I got her to sleep. I would also start looking for all the binkys and throw them all out. When we would go down the aisle in a store where there was binkys I would say your a big girl and say eww yucky! I also learned that the binky was more for me when I wanted her to stop crying or go to sleep, but it only takes about a week or so to forget all about that thing. Well at least for me it did.
