at 1 year old they like anything they can push (like a shopping cart or carriage), pull, and dump and fill (like buckets full of snap beads, etc... that they can dump, refill, carry around, and dump out again (its a toddler thing lol). Books are also always a really safe bet. Go to www.toysrus.com or amazon.com and look under the 1 year old age group to search for toys. Good luck!
