Is my daughter advanced for her age?

My daughter is 2yrs and 4 months old. She already sings the full ABC's counts from 1-15 in english and spanish. Also says many word in spanishid say maybe has a vocabulary of 30 spanish words. She also speaks in full sentences like " can i please have more milk mom?" She knows all of her shapes and colors as well as object and real world objects. I tell people all this and they seem to be surprised she knows so much and dont believe it. Is she really advanced or just a little faster than others?

Answers:
AWESOME, I can totally relate. My son is also 2.4 years old. He knows exactly the same as your daugther but only knows about 10 spanish words. I feel he is advanced. He also asks me questions that impress me for a 2 year old. I think it is very advanced for this age. Other kids that I know don't even know their colors much less the ABC's. We do work with my son though, as in reading him books and explaining to him the steps I do while I do them such as driving him to daycare. I am proud, you should be too!! Keep up the good work!

She seems advanced for her age. You know it too. You just put this on here so you can brag. I'm a mom too.

A little, yes If you teach her those things she will know them the younger a child is the more they can learn.

She sounds pretty advanced. Check out ivillages website, I'll post it below.

Yes she is advanced, because there are a lot of 2 year olds that don´t even know how to talk. She knows Spanish and English some adults don´t even know both.

yeah I have a 2 year 4 month old and he is smart, but she is definitley advanced, Which may not mean anything for the future. My first son was just like you are saying and he ended up having some problems when he started school. He was diagnosed with Asperger's. Very large vocabulary. Great Memory. Was saying his ABCs and counting before he was 2. I always bragged about him too. He is now in the 3rd grade and getting A and Bs despite his learning problems, but hey Im sure she is jsut gifted. Kudos to you! Thanks for working with your child, although she may be advanced she obviously enjoys being read to. Thnks for taking time with your child.

your daughter sounds like mine but she is 18 months old and all i know is we have DORA THE EXPLORER to thank WOW! she has learned sooo much from that program counting in spanish and eniglish it is sooo awesome

My son does these things also, and he is 1 month older than yours. I don't think he is advanced, I just think he is worked with constantly. He doesn't speak spanish though, he speaks japanese. He doesn't know the entire abc song either but he knows quite a few other songs.
I think you just wanted to brag too, but hey... that's what moms do. I think you have a smart kid. I think lots of kids are that smart though.

Very advanced. My son says 3 word sentences, can count to 10, but skips 3, and can sing the ABC song at just 2years old. Most kids that age can barely speak one-2 word sentences. You are obviously working with her. Keep up the good work.

BS child development, 10 years day care, my own son, Elementry School Teacher My daughter is the same way, the doctor did a few tests and said that she is "exceptionally brilliant."

First off it means she is being taught.
She is developing at a normal rate, but a normal rate has different meanings for different children.
Girl's also tend to develop this skill before boy's.
Please refer to mayo clinic.com for proffesional referance on child development.
