How does milk feeding on bottles affect my child's teeth?

My daughter is 1 1/2 yr old. Our pedia recommends to stop feeding her milk on bottles but instead use only training cup, because accg to her it can affect my child's teeth.

How does milk feeding on bottles affect my childs teeth? What are its effects?

Answers:
My dentist explained this to me during my last visit. He said that constantly exposing your teeth to food and drinks for longer than 30 minutes may weaken them and promote decay... especially in chidren who are constantly bottle feeding or sippy cup drinking for hours at a time. Even milk has sugars that can decay teeth with prolonged exposure. When a child with teeth bottle feeds him/ herself to sleep some of the liquid can pool and keep the teeth soaked. So, he said to eat and drink what I have to in 30 minutes, rest my teeth for at least 2 hours and finish the rest. If I get thirsty between sugary stuff, drink water to quench. Hope this helps!!! Ask your daughter's dentist, she should've had her first check up at year. Good Luck!!!

well im not sure what milk does but dont give her koolaid in a bottle..she will get bottle rot teeth which is what i had when i was like 2 because my parents gave me kool-aid....
Contact a pediatric dentist for the best answer on this. I know it has something to do with bone growth, the hard palate and the bacteria in the nipple rotting the teeth.

At 1 and 1/2, she should be able to hold a juice box or cup with straw on her own. Her motor skills will thank you.
It will change the way the teeth are coming in. If her teeth are already in, they will still be altered because of the way her gums are when she sucks on the bottle. Her teeth will have a better chance of being crooked if she stays with the bottle. Also, if she goes to bed with the bottle in her mouth, her teeth will get cavities sooner. The sugars in the milk will coat her teeth as she sleeps. Not good.
Well constant drinking can cause tooth decay. Make sure you are brushing her teeth very ofter and do not let her have the bottle all the time, just when she starts to get thirsty.
Your doctor probably told you that because most children who are drinking milk in a bottle are drinking it when they go to sleep and that creates tooth decay. The sugar in the milk crystalizes on their teeth because they are sleeping on their back and breathing and it dries up right on their teeth. Eventually their teeth become completely decayed. This can also happen if you give your child a tippy cup or breast feed them before they go to bed. You should rinse out your babys mouth with water before you lay them down to bed to avoid this. I have a friend and her son is only 2 1/2 and has to go to the hospital to be put to sleep to get his teeth worked on because they are so bad. Hope this helps.
milk, has bacterias, that harbor on your daughters teeth. just like anything else you need to brush her teeth often. otherwise she will get tooth decay. Its up to you when to wing your child, the Dr. can recommnd but the choice is yours!!! Just keep her teeth brushed.
It can cause "bottle rot" milk has quite a bit of sugar in it. And if the baby teeth start to rot, it will affect the adult teeth when they start to develop.
