First of all let me say, I feel your pain! My son has had this problem since he was born. At your daughter's age, I doubt it's cradle cap anymore. I took my son to the dermatologist and he was diagnosed with icthyosis. It's a condition that causes the dead skin to build up instead of flake off like it does on everyone else. Don't worry though. It's not serious, just annoying. I would make an appointment to see a dermatologist to have her looked at just to be sure. In the mean time, try the Paul Mitchell tea tree oil shampoo. It works well for my son. You can also use and kind of dandruff shampoo if the scales are not really thick. Be sure to keep the shampoo out of her eyes though. All of the medicated stuff stings! I also suggest getting some biosilk. You can buy the knock off brand at Wal-Mart. It's mainly used to de-frizz hair and make it shiny. I use it on my son every other day. Just rub it in to the scalp and you can use it on the rest of her hair too. It will make it soft and shiny. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to email me. I know a lot of these people mean well, but unless they have a toddler with this problem, they just don't understand. After you little one is over a year old, the things you do for babies with cradle cap just don't seem to work anymore. Please let me know if I can help you out in any way. Me and my little man are still dealing with this and he's almost 4.

its your fault for letting her get that way. craddle cap on a 2 year old. that is just a dirty scalp at this point. have someone bathe your child, you obviously arent doing it right!

This will sound insane to you but just shampoo her nightly with "Head and Shoulders Shampoo." This will cause the stuff to start flaking off gently. No need for hard scrubbing etc. If you know anybody who works at a hospital have them get you a surgical scrub brush. Take off the sponge part that has the iodine in it and use the brush to rub the shampoo around. They are really soft and gentle and are designed to scrub human skin unlike combs, brushes, nail brushes, toothbrushes, and all the various things people recommend. My second son had eczema to go with his cradle cap and strangely enough the shampoo didn't cause him any irritation unlike everything else in the world! Of course you have to keep the stuff out of their eyes. I recommend a damp wash cloth folded into a nice eye cover. My mother was a nurse and they did this to keep the soap out of patient's eyes when they bathed them.

After a week to 10 days you can start to use regular kids shampoo again but use the head and shoulders once a week.

Cradle cappy kids!

baby oil will work if its done right i have always used baby oil on my sons scalp after bathing him so that he would not end up with cradle cap its due to dry skin as well. rub the baby oil unto the scalp & immediatly comb the scalp with a fine toothed comb. you will see the dry skin peel right off. let the oil set for no longer than 20 minutes if not it may burn. than wash his/her scalp really good do this again when in 2 to 3 days if needed until the cradle cap disappears. Rub baby oil on the scalp and with a baby soft brush lightly rub the area.. do that for a few days after a bath but befor bed..leave oil in hair over night. all three my kids had this and my sisters kid too..it works. It will only be sticky for a short time..you just have to deal with it till you have the cradel cap gone.

Im a mother of three

Our pediatrician had us put mineral oil on our son's head for 10 minutes a day, brush with a soft brush, then rinse off. This cleared things up within a week.
