How do I file a complaint about a daycare center in Victoria, Tx?

I took my 17 1/2 month old daughter to daycare for the first time today. When my mom picked her up that afternoon, NO ONE asked to see her ID, even though I was told when I registered her that it would be checked. She also saw a paper saying that she had been "kissed on the cheek but the little boy had pushed too hard" explaining the marks on my daughter's cheek. But she said you could see where they had scratched out "bit" and put kissed. Also she was told that my daughter had eaten waffles and apple sauce for breakfast and had fish sticks and mashed potatoes and apple sauce for lunch and had eaten every bit...she doesn't eat that much in THREE days, how would she eat it in 8 hours? I was also told that it was so hot in there, that my mom was dripping sweat and she cooled down when she walked outside IT'S 90+ DEGREES IN TEXAS how hot did they have it in there? I just don't know what to do.

Answers:
local news station(s)
childrens services
better business bureau

(I am sure that childrens services would have the name of the issuing license authority/accrediting agency, be it the department of health, state, county or whatever.)

That is completely unacceptable.
I would report to anyone and everyone you can.

I am sorry that you are having problems, I WOULD not take my child back to that center and contact your local Dept of Human Services (this is what it is called in Okla) I would make a complaint and see if they can help you find another place to leave your child. I work in a daycare and we do check ID's for every person we do not know, and check the files to see if they can pick the child up. Also it should not be hot in the center and the biting thing is kissing thing is a big deal and they should have told you the truth. There are to many people and places that would love to have your child, do not settle for this one if you are not happy, go with your gut and you will know what to do. Lots of Luck Allexus

YEEEEEEEEEEEP I Know just what you are talking about . I actually worked in a daycare that was filthy and one of the rooms was so hot that I was dripping sweat and almost passed out . There were so many violations. I was going to do it, but someone beat me to it, you call the state health department and they will send someone out to investigate and then they will also get social services involved as well.

That is the first step, contact the health department. Believe me, they will get right on it
I dont live too far from you. Just call the better buisness bureau and complain, or even the health department. If that is not right then they will be able to tell you. But yeah that is pretty sad when its cooler when you walk outside, cuz it was SOOOOOO HOT today!
There should be a sign somewhere in the daycare regarding who to call if you should have complaints against the establishment. Just call them and ask them for the number, that way you can remain anonymous while reporting them, or next time you're in there, look for the sign. All businesses have one...
Call your local health department and tell them what you just wrote here, if that's not the appropriate place to call they will give you the name and number of who to call. For your child's sake please don't return her to this daycare find another one that you will be more well suited with. Most states require by law for day cares to check Id's of people they don't know picking up a child and check to make sure that person is on the list to pick them up. At my daughter's daycare they even call me if someone is picking my daughter for the first time to make sure it is ok with me.
I would definitely report the situation. Here is a website that will allow you to review daycares in your area and their inspection reports.

I would also make an appointment to speak to the director regarding your concerns.
If your state has a website for their Dept of Health and Human Services, find their phone number and call to make a complaint. They will send a caseworker to the daycare site for a report and the center has to come up with and approve a course of action to remedy the lapses in safety procedures.
My state, NH, just put up a website on DHHS specifically to check all licensed daycares in the state to see if they have had any reports or violations. It is a really good way to check out centers.
It sound slike ti is definitely time to make some noise about this. You are the only voice your child has...
Good Luck.
