19 months and talking?

I have a 19 month old grand daughter and I have 6 children and her vocab has astonished me she can sing aongs like
" A musician I am and a playing I will go" almost that clear you definately know what she is singing and she knows every word of not only this song but dozens..I havent experienced this with any of my own children ....Is this normal for children of today? I mean my oldest is 22 ...and none of my kids spoke clear and plain until 2.5-3 years ???
Any one have any idea about this/

Answers:
This is probably just a little bit above average. At 15 months, most kids are starting to put two words together, maybe a few more. By 2 years, they should be putting together three words or more, making requests and so forth. This is normal...but "normal" is a pretty general word. It could be that she is just going to be very gifted in language and music. Lucky you! All my famiy swears I was talking in complete sentences at 1 yr of age. My own son was an early talker too. Consider it a blessing!

Other Answers:
Our first daughter started talking at 9 months saying lots of different words... daie (daddy), mama banana, puppy, book, hi, bye-bye and so on... At 1 she was saying things like 'I'm humry (hungry)', 'hold me' and other smaller sentences. By 18 months she was saying all kinds of things and even singing! She was always clear with her words and we had no trouble at all understanding her. She had all kinds of people talking to her since she was a newborn! We were around the in-laws every day and they had a house full. Plus she was very inquisitive.. when she was learning how to say words that I was teaching her, she would watch my mouth! It was very cute. Anyway, we have a three year old and she wasn't to interested in talking until she was almost 2. She was a little hard to understand (and sometimes still is!). Our 19 month old talks alot, and she is pretty clear with her words also. I think it just depends on the child and when they are ready and comfortable enough to talk.. Our 5 year old is very mature for her age. Everyone thinks she is older than she is. I had to take her out of Preschool because she was not happy this year... all the kids were less mature and she was bored with it. So I teach her at home and she will be ready for Kindergarten this next year! Although it is not real common, this happens more than we think. It always amazes me at the things my daughters say, no matter how they say it! lol

If she is around older children a lot it could be the reason. My oldest niece is almost 5 and the middle one just turned 2 in march and her vocabualry and conversational ability astounds me! But it's because she's around her sister all the time and she has learned how to communicate from her and by mimicking her.
I wouldn't worry. It's a good thing!

She'll probably potty train sooner and faster too because she's able to communicate so well.
