Does anybody have a creative way to feed veggies to a toddler?


Something other than cutesy shapes and airplane noises. He won't fall for it.

Disguise it in foods he *does* like. If he'll eat pizza or spaghetti, add a little finely grated carrot to the sauce. It's almost invisible, and you can't taste it, either. Pancakes, waffles, or muffins are another place to hide grated carrot or zucchini. Get creative!

Another thing that sometimes helps is to eat them in front of him and tell him (before he asks) that you only have a little bit and *don't* want to share! Toddlers are often very independent, and if they think you don't want them to have them, they'll want it. (Use the same method to get a teenager to read a book--hide it behind other books on a high shelf!)

If you have room for a garden (all you really need is one window), grow a plant or two. Let him help you--especially with the dirty parts! He'll be quicker to eat something he grew himself.

Some families have a rule that everyone has to take 2 bites (or 1 bite) of every food before they can "not like it". (No seconds on *anything* until he eats that one bite.) If he tastes something often enough, he'll grow to like it. Only use this is you're willing to stick to it, though; otherwise, it's one more way for him to defy you.

Just act like veggies are the best tasting foods in the world. And then when you eat them act like you actually really love them. Kids will do whatever they're parents do. make the veggies fun by making smiley faces and make fun for them.


My daughter loved vegetables because she got to dip them. I made her healthy dips you can find recipes on line made with yogurt and add stuff. For example celery tastes great to kids with a peanut butter honey dip. Be inventive and let her help make the dips. Kids love eating stuff they made

Try to saute them in some Braggs, which is liquid amino acid. Sort of like soy sauce but healthy. Try Carrots, Kale is great if you steam it in water and Braggs. Also try it in something like fried rice. Fry in Toasted sesame oil.

Let him help you cook. That works for us.

Also, try the same veggies different ways: zucchini can be grated and cooked with lemon and parmesan cheese, or it can be put in tomato sauce with noodles, or diced fine and mixed into scrambled eggs or fried rice... You get the idea.

Our daughters also love anything with hummus.


I always put it in the food I cooked like spaghetti or casseroles. Dip them in fruit...see the post called fregetables on Mama Drama. :)

Let him or her pick the veggies out of a container that is sort of tricky. It should make it a challenge and interesting...hopefully. Mash them into a pulp/blend them and add to spag bol or stuff with a very tasty sauce or gravy. Theyll be nutritious but invisible! After a long break of 'no' veggies, gradually reintroduce them one by one. You could try cutting everything into small squares, so they all look the same, I generally serve about 5 veg with one meal, so its a rainbow of little cubes/peas/corn on the plate, I even told one of my kids they were sweeties!!!(lol!!) have you tried giving unusual/baby veg like mange tout/sugar snap peas/asparagus tips/baby corn etc etc?


a good way is to puree them and mix them into foods or chop them small. If there is any he really like let him pick it at the store. My daughter refuses to eat sweet potato but she like peas so i give every kind and evey shape of peas and beans. Sometimes i mix it with carrots and she eats it!

My son love cheese so I put it on most of his veggies. Well I put a little sugar on his carrots. Anything to make them taste better to him so he will eat them.
