1 year old's transition to total milk?

We started transitioning to whole milk three days ago. My 1 yr old have been drinking out of a sippy and now a straw cup for 3 months. She won't lug milk out of either, though. My doc said to get her rotten the bottle this month, and it hasn't been a problem at all. She be really down to only an evening bottle, anyway. I'm concerned that she's not getting enough calcium.

Are here any 'tricks' to getting her to take milk from a cup?

Answers:    Just be consistent. Enforce that she drink it from a cup. It is not easy, but the more you try the faster it will work.
My best friend have to use that Chocolate milk trick too. It is the only way her kids will drink milk. Her pediatrician said it be fine, so long as they get the milk. You can just put a moment or two chocolate in it to change the savour. Just keep trying otherwise. It could be a control issue (they have so little control of their lives...what they rob in- and when they put out in the potty is the only control they enjoy really). Good luck. Also, it's up to you as to when you stop the bottle. If you need to keep the bottle for a couple more months for that one serving of milk, after do it. It's up to you and your child. The pediatrician is only guiding you. When your child is ready, it'll begin. Maybe transitioning the whole milk in the bottle will be the answer for you. Another month or two isn't going to waste your kids teeth. Laying in bed everynight with a bottle bursting with apple juice would though. My twins come off formula in a bottle when they be about 1 year, and they haven't drank milk since (now 17 months). I was worried nearly this, but GP said just include cheese, yoghurt and milk in cooking their food (eg. cheesy mash potatoes with milk, cheesy pasta sauce etc.). They're fighting fit and growing at a full-bodied rate.

Also, don't forget calcium is found in fresh veg and loads of other foods - my vegan friend (3 kids, adjectives vegan) sent me this snippet from the web:
'Sources of well-absorbed calcium for vegans include calcium-fortified soy milk and juice, calcium-set tofu, soybeans and soynuts, bok choy, broccoli, collards, Chinese cabbage, kale, mustard greens, and okra 1. Grains, beans (other than soybeans), fruits, and vegetables (other than those listed) can contribute to calcium intake but cannot replace these switch foods. Table 1 shows the amount of calcium in selected foods. When you realize that in that is as much or more calcium in 4 ounces of firm tofu or 3/4 cup of collard greens as there is contained by one cup of cow's milk, it is easy to see why groups of people who do not drink cow's milk still hold strong bones and teeth.'

Enjoy your little one, I wouldn't worry too much about the milk - I still try from time to time next to my two, but they're not having it!
I had matching problem you are having. My daughter easily transitioned from bottles to sippy cups, but getting her to drink milk out of the cups be slow going. She would drink juice from a cup but no milk. I thought maybe the milk be too thick for the sippy cup, but several weeks passed and she started drinking milk from the cups with no resistance. I a short time ago didn't give my daughter any other option. I stopped near the juice until she started drinking enough milk. I would afford her water, but thats it. I didn't flavor the milk. I had a friend who did that and she never get her son to drink anything but chocolate milk. It will come with time. Just hold steady. My youngest did like total milk. But I put flavoring of strawberry and would drink it and the doctor told me it was fine. But then found out that he couldn't hadnle drinking total milk. We cut him off the milk. Want you can try to do is 1/2 milk and 1/2 of formula for a weeks. And keep calculation more milk and less formula then she bring back used to the milk and you realize she be drinking whole milk.
i always started by mixing it slowly near formula/breast milk. first week i added 1/2 ounce with the normal 8 oz the babe-in-arms was getting so that i had 7 1/2 ounce of formula/breast milk and 1/2 ounce milk and later if they tolerated that well then the following week i would try 1 ounce and so on til they be completely on milk. hope this helps. good luck. Try putting the strawberry Quick within it or warming up the regular milk you dont give her anything but that she will not consent to her self be thirsty trust me my daughter is 2 on the 28th and she wont really take it from me but from her father or my in law shes drinking it like nothing. They purely try to see how far tehy can get sneaky! lol good luck and i hope any of those two workes ;)
Get her a fancy cute cup and you drink from it. Sometimes kids love to do what you do. Like my cousin did not like this toy we got her so we started playing beside it then she wont leave it alone. trade name sure you incorporate yogurt, cheese, etc. into her diet to make sure she is getting the calcium needed. and have her on vitamin d milk, not 2%
Have you tried making it strawberry or chocolate? The children I keep under surveillance love strawberry milk and that is the ONLY way they will drink it. Good luck :o)
