What do you think are the best TV shows for a 4 yr old?

There are so many out there!!!

Answers:
Any of them. They are all under some FCC thing that says that shows designed for toddlers/kids have to be educational in some form. I had a classmate in my broadcast journalism class that reported on it. Anyway, you can judge for yourself which ones are appropriate for your child, as some of those shows are too "young" for a very advanced 4 year old, while others are too "advanced" for kids under 7.

For an easier way to find out, look for TV ratings of G to Y7. Anything higher might go over his/her poor little head. :-)

my 5 year and 3 year old kids watch most programs and very educational

Sesame Street was designed for kids that can't go to kindy. So it aims to be educational. I think kids at this age like teletubbies

Honestly - none. Sit your child down & read with him/her. Teach him to play cards. Go for a walk & just talk.

Too many children spend most of their time in front of the TV these days and don't learn anything.

Every once in awhile I get to see some of these programs at the athletic club I go to (they have 3 TVs on the wall- and 1 is always connected to the Disney channel). I catch those Wiggles guys dancing around (I can't hear them cause I don't put on the microphone), but really, based on what I have seen - what are they trying to teach kids?
Source(s):
Experience. A child's mind is so totally open to everything - you really need to watch what you are letting go into it.

The wiggles is a great one. Also Dora the Explorer is also a really good show to have them watch. Veggie Tales is good to teach them about manners and sharing. Hope that helped. kill your T.V. - if you cannot kill your T.V at least put a piece of plexi glass over the screen - there are real problems that T.V. causes - it's complicated... but even the light from the T.V. mezmerizes people - so at least place a sheet of plexiglass over the screen.

I am a father of four, I brought up my kids without T.V. - they got along just fine, my children were really good friends with each other, and were very polite, and had so few problems. Of course they had each other to play with, but all in all the T.V. is an idiot box... people watching it use so little of their brain - just throw the damn thing out and don't worry about what is best to watch.

none, they did a bunch of studies on the effects of tv watching for kids, and kids that watched educational tv knew less than kids that didn't watch tv at all and just played.
i wish i could find those studies for you...

Tom & Jerry .. looooooool Rollie Pollie Ollie, maybe spongebob, sesame street ( a classic )

None of them really. They are entertainment and parents should provide entertainment for their kids.

Hunchback of Notre Dame

Bob the Builder
Bird Bath
Peppa Pig
