How many calories a day should a 1 year old consume?

There is not one number for any age, but a range of numbers. Energy requirements vary with size, metabolism, growth rate and the level of activity. The best guide is the growth rate. Children will have fluctuations over the years, but generally, will follow along a percentile on the growth chart. You should check with your child's doctor to see the growth rate if you are concerned.
