my doctor says that my baby may turn bowl legged but he said it is slight should i worry?

My baby is 13 months old and the doctor does not want him to wear heavy shoes he says he has a slight bowl leg but it can correct itself. If he does have it what do they usually do to them and what age do they make the move?

Answers:
A slight bow-leg is not a serious problem,it is more common now and can be easily corrected by good support walking shoes and even if it's not corrected it's not treated as a medical condition.Back in the day when bow-leg was treated as a condition because so many babies were being born allergic to the milks that were on the market and they couldn't drink it,which led to the loss of calcium for the bones and when they were old enough to try to stand all the weight would push down on the legs and bow them out.If the bowing was severe then the legs would have to be broken and put in casts so that the bones would heal straight and some children even had to get braces on their legs.

I think you mean bull legged. It just means that his legs will be far apart and he might waddle a little. I would just listen to the Doc b/c he went to school for all those years and I'm sure he learned something. But, I'm no expert you should ask someone else.

its not a big deal my girlkfriend was bowleged bad and they fixed her's right away and then they kept up on it and they have fixed her legs so good that you can't tell hers were ever messed up. she said that it wasn't that bad just werried growing up with her legs in the brace to fix it but she is happy that they did it. It's bow not bowl.

Common for kids, and yes it will usually correct itself. If it doesn't the doc may have them wear orthopedic shoes, possible wear casts or most dramaticly break the legs to correct the problem. Like I said, it usually corrects itself.

I wouldn't worry i know that's impossible, but just pray & beleive everything will be ok. My neices son was a little bowl legged when he was about the same age,now he is 4 and i do see any sign of his legs being the way they were. Just pray and I will too. God Bless You & Your Family
