What are nits?
try the NIX brand. it is much much better. i had the same probelm with my daughter, i kept getting RID and i finally tried NIX and it finally got rid of it all. How about. . . . cutting off all her hair? Bald is the new hair.
make sure to use the comb and do as few strands as possible at one time
In Britain we always used shampoo with coal tar, like Vosene. 3 years of public school in the UK and I never once had nits, so it should get rid of them and keep them gone.you mean mites? you can visit your local pharmacy and they will recommend a good brand. You gotta follow the directions and use the comb and then do it again two weeks later. If you dont wash the bedding and stuff, they will come back, too.

Been there, done that.
Ok I worked at a daycare of 3 years and I can spot nits and lice from a mile away. What you have to remember is you HAVE to clean your house. you have to vaccum it like 2x a day you have to wash all the sheets everyday. Come on now. It's living in your house, kill it.
listerine...douse her head in it twice a day for a week. It's not good for the hair...but it beats shaving it.yea what is nits? do you bits? the b is next to the n on the keybord. unless there is a thing called nits so please tell us what nits? Apparently tea tree oil is really good for head lice, look for a shampoo with it in. If that fails then ask your doc cos if you've tried over the counter stuff from the pharmacy and it hasn't worked then they may be able to give you something a bit stronger.
First, treat them with whatever chemical you tend to use.
Don't forget to change her pillow case, sheets, any play hats, etc.
Then rub a few drops of rosemary oil onto her scalp every morning before she goes to school. Nits HATE rosemary and will avoid her.
Also, be sure to tie up her hair every day. Braids are good.
If you have a Natural Foods store in your area, I suggest you go there and get their brand. It is a little bit more expensive, but it works well, and is less harmful on your daughters head.
Also clean anything that she has touched. Her pillow, bed, toys, stuffed animals, clothes, couch, etc. It will take awhile, but hang in there.

2 school aged neices that lived with me for 2 months last year!
wash her hair with olive oil let it sit for a few minutes then wash it with shampoo and make her blow dry her hair every night all the way Remember to clean hair utensils, all combs brushes scrungees bands etc, and all pillows and cases and bed sheets, hats caps you get the idea.
use NIX and thoroughly comb all of it out of her hair. also you need to clean everything in your house. ANYTHING that could have lice on it needs to be cleaned with hot water, or even that lice spray. wash all bedding, pillows, hair brushes, hair ties, anything that lice could live in, and also thoroughly wash all her clothes in hot water and jackets too, everything. and also tell her not to share hair brushes, hair ties, jackets, anything like that with anybody at school. good luck
Do you mean lice? If so I can tell you how to get rid of them.Take regular olive oil and satuate the childs head/hair in it. Wrap it up in plastic wrap or a shower cap or something and leave it on (the longer the better). Maybe a couple of hours. Wash the hair several times. The olive oil isn't that bad to wash out. They should be dead. It smothers them and it worked for my son when the stuff you buy didn't! I had tried several poisons to no avail.
Try it, it really works. Good luck to ya.
Any brand works as longest you repeat the treatment in seven days.Make sure you let your daugther know not to share any hair bows ,hats ,etc.Good Luck It's very difficult. I would recommend buying the shampoo and then following the directions. Then it is just a painstaking process where you look in the hair and pick out all the eggs using a fine tooth comb. You can buy a light with a magnifier at a hobby or craft store which may help you to see easier.
Also, make sure to get the furniture spray and spray all furniture and bedding. Also, wash all sheets and towels with bleach and vacuum. Stuffed animals and anything else that can't be cleaned should be placed in air tight bags for at least a week.
Supposedly they don't like greasy hair, so don't wash your child's hair every day, and you may want to consider putting a mixture of baby oil and water in her hair.
Good luck!

personal experience
Notify your school, so other parents can treat the headlice. Buy over-counter lotion and treat as regular as needed. Use a metal comb to remove eggs. I recommend to comb each day for the next 10 days and re-treat to kill any other left over eggs. It is also important to treat all family members. Wash pillows and towels to kill any on there. If she doesnt go to school, perhaps you consider thinking about where she is getting them from, alerting family, friends or visitors. If they are not gone after this perhaps seeing the doc to see if he can give something stronger.

my kids catching them every year when its the first week back to school! wash all her bedding and pillows in really hot water.
wash all her clothes the same way.
wash her hair with the medicated shampoos
comb her hair with the nit comb
get her to stop sharing hats / pillows / brushes with other people.
Just buy Rid or Nix and after treating her hair keep a little hairspray or baby oil in her hair to keep from getting them also a old remedy is Mayo but most kids don't like the smell in their hair.Make sure you treat all toys and bedding and the whole house items that can't be washed put them in a pillowcase and put in the dryer to kill lice and the eggs wish you all the best.Good Luck This is one of those life experiences that you will come to hate. I had it often as a child. Since we live in a modern world with technology...take advantage of it. You can go to a drug store or perhaps even Target or KMart and get the comb that "zaps" the live ones when combing out the hair. I have used the egg/mayo theory..it works ok if you can get the child to leave the bag on their head.
Also your doctor can prescribe you Lindain lotion to help..or you can use the god-awful smelling stuff my mom did..we used it once a week. Get a bottle of Mialathon (used to kill bugs and weeds) mix it half and half with shampoo leave on no more than 3 minutes. It smells awful but it does work. Repeat once a week and you are sure not to half this problem in the future.
use hair products with natural coconut oil in them . suave has shampoo and conditioner . wash the hair in the shampoo during bath time , leave it on for 15 minutes rinse and use the conditioner.
i found this on the OSU website . [ohio state university hospital] we also bought some leave in hair condition for african americans hair we use this on our kids hair . i wouldnt use it in long caucasian hair TRUST ME . i spent 4 days trying to get this stuff out of my hair .
