Is kinder care a decent place to put our toddler if I go back to work?

Answers:
THis is actually partially in response to the previous answer. I happen to be one of those "complete strangers." I work at a daycare center, and I can tell you that contrary to popular belief, intense care is given to ensure that each and every child feels loved, is cared for, and stays happy and healthy when with us and even when not in our presence. I don't work at Kinder Care, but the best advice I can give is to thouroughly check it out before leaving your child there. Observe teachers interacting with children and take note of a few simple (but important) things:

How clean are the rooms and bathrooms? Ask to see the kitchen. Most states only require Health Department checks twice a year-- alot of grime and gross can build up between visits.

Do the teachers wash their hands or at least use hand sanitizer after each diaper they change?

When and how often are snacktimes, and what kind of snacks are given? If the school provides lunch, is it healthy?

How many teachers are in each classroom? In a toddlers room, there should be at least one teacher per 7 students, if not more.

Is there a registered nurse on staff?

Is there any sort of lesson plan the teachers follow, or is it an all-day playdate?

Is there outside play equipment? If yes, is it a sturdy plastic?

The rule for outside play doubles as far as teachers are concerned. There should be two teachers for every 7 kids.

Do the children have unattended runny noses, untied shoes, soiled diapers?

I know it sounds like a lot, but checking on even just a few of these can keep you kid happier, healthier, and safer if you choose to leave him/her at a daycare.
And be warned while looking for proper daycare-- Sticking "Christian" on the name is a popular way to gain clients, but also can be a popular way to duck out of certain state requirements.
