are children as young as 4 able to make them selves vommit?
Can she be doing this on purpose for some reason?
Answers:
It could very well be for attention, but i would make sure to rule out all possibilty of a medical problem too. Is there a lot of stress in the girls life? Sometimes, children are prone to emoitional sickness, and can vomit. Also, some children will do whatever it takes for attention, even if its negative attention. Try to show her you care about her, and let her know that she has your attention. Try to learn about her home environment as well too.

I would look into if she is maybe seeing someone else do this, I know my 4 yr old tends to copy behaviors a lot.
She might have an allergy. My friend was sent home everyday at lunchtime for a couple of weeks in kindergarten until they figured out that she had an intolerance for even the smell of French dressing and it made her very sick but only for an hour or two. Keep track of what time it is and what is going on in the environment when she vomits. Of course. Most children if they work themselves up enough w/ panic or crying, can induce vomiting. Botulism is common in trauma, but if you're 4 then it can be very traumatic for your parents to leave or for you not to get what you want.

Yup! They can ,and often do , this for attention. It sounds like this child is trying to get some control in an enviornment that she is unsure of. Perhaps, she is either "the boss" at home or she is greatly upset about being away from her parents. I have a niece who did the same thing when her mother decided it was time to go back into the working world. Plus, I have a son who did it when he would go for visits at his fathers house. He just didn't like being away from me OR his usual enviornment.
She knows that this gets her attention and as a result, she gets reunited with her parents and others. "Poor little thing!" This doesn't make her a "bad" child, it just means that there is more to the story than just "oops I did it again".

Kids that young can make themselves throw up (and younger even) but typically it's accidental. Sounds more like she might have a nervous stomach (doesn't show up on physical tests). I had it growing up and threw up all the time. It sucked. It wasn't until I was older that I was diagnosed and got help. It's basically from anxiety so just try to be patient with her and support her all you can.
Thanks for being a teacher!
