is it safe to play in the rain with a 2 yr old?

Answers:
Yes. It is an old wive's tale that you can get sick by being wet. Only a virus will cause you be sick. Go for it!

Other Answers:
I don't think so.
rain yes, ligtening no , kids love the rain
I have with all my kids. When I was in nursing school, my instructor answered this question in class one day. Unless there is a virus in the outside air, playing in the rain could not get you sick. Summer rains are great for cooling off in, as long as there are no thunder or lightning. Have fun!!
Well yeah its safe but you have to worry about lighning and also your 2 yr old might get sick with a cold but if you feel you must play in the rain which I admit is fun just take a warm bath afterwards and maybe give the toddler a lil bit of tylenol just to be on the safe side.
i play in it all the time. lightning shlightning
of course its fine, and all this worry about thunder and lightening??? children are no more likely to get hit by lightening than you or I. and when was the last time that happened to you?
I think so as long as they are dressed warm enough and have a rain coat.
Yes it's safe and more importantly it's fun for them and could be for you too. Just make sure the child is warm enough and their ears are covered by a hat or hood.
Depends. Is it lightening, cold, is she sick, is it too slippery, or are you playing in the street?

If not I say go for it! Playing in the rain is awesome!

yes it is safe.
Yes it is fine and a whole lot of fun for them. Just when there is thunder there will soon be lightning and go in as soon as you hear it. That will teach them storm saftey as well as giving them a good time.
If there is no lightning, then, yes, it is safe. Just don't be surprised if he/she gets a cold (or you do)
wrap them up, get a towel and change of clothes ready for when they get back in make sure the house is warm for when you return

AND GO OUT AND ENJOY YOURSELVES
Sure I don't see why not. I put my daughter's beach shoes on her so she won't slip and she has a ball. We're not talking thunderstorms here I assume.
It's true you can only get sick from a virus and not so much being wet outside but getting wet and cold makes decreases your bodys defense mechanisms making it "easier" for the virus to take over your system. That's why people get sick more often during the winter.
During the summer in a warm rain, yes. If your kids just got over a cold,no.
It's fine, as long as there isn't lightning out there are well...... or if it's icy cold. Just make sure you dry them off properly when you get back inside - there's nothing worse than wet clothes when it's cold (as that's what makes you feel cold, if you've got dry clothes and it's cold out it doesn't affect you as much).
yeah why not, it would be a lot of fun.
as long as there is no lightening. A gentle rainfall can be a wonderful sensory experience for children
I would think so . I don't see why it would hurt them.
Can I and my kids come too?! lol sounds like fun, go for it!

Mud fights are fun too! (just not for kids who put stuff in their mouths!)
yes, rain doesn't cause sickness, but it can trigger allergies if the toddler is way allergic. I know everyone is fearing lightning, but lightning strikes aren't much to worry about unless the kid is holding a silver walking stick or something. I live in Arizona and playing in the rain is a sport for all kids. I remember one time it rained and everyone on our street ran out and danced in the rain. Even the adults enjoy walking out into the rain in Arizona.

Of course, as long as it's warm outside, so they don't catch a chill. I would come in if it starts lightening or thundering though, but my almost-2-year-old LOVES to play outside when it's sprinkling.
Sure...just not thunder/lightening storm. What kid...or BIG kid...aka mom/dad...doesn't love to jump in puddles and splash in the mud!!!???? Umbrellas are fun too...just make sure to watch the eyes...!!!
