A child needs surgery in Seattle Wa, parent can't afford med ins thru work, makes more than $30k -what pgrms?


What programs are available in Seattle Wa regarding surgery/hospital needs for children under the age of 5 - Parent makes $30k annually, so is above assistance level, but cannot afford the insurance offered through her job. What resources are available to her. She is a single parent.
Her daughter needs surgery soon.

There's a program in the State of Washington to cover all children with health insurance. I believe that the counselor at the child's school will have the application form. I'm not sure what the waiting period would be after being covered. If all else fails, most hospitals in the area have a sign posted in the ER if they provide care for patients regardless of ability to pay. She should check with Children's Hospital and Harborview.

I just realized this is in the toddler section. Perhaps your friend could get the application for uninsured children's insurance at a neighborhood school.

I would check with Childrens hospital free care fund. They help parents without medical insurance get medical attention for the child. Check with gateway Insuranc also.. I am not sure if it is in that area or not
