How to break a 3 year old from sleeping with a Tv on. (screems bloody murder , if off)?
Answers:
If possable try to replace with a fun book or some other healthy activity that can be done while in bed. Then I would cut down time the child is alowed to watch tv to one to two hours tops a day. Set your boundries that know tv time past hours aloud a day and your reason for no tv on during the night will be understood. He/she will probly still sound like someone is killing him/her when going to bed, but if you can hold your ground the child will learn in a few days and go to bed nice and easy.

Unplug it and tell him it's broken.
I did this with my 2 year old...at first i started turning it off while she was asleep, and then turning it off before bed, and then eventually when the tv went off she knows its bedtime and now refuses to sleep unless the tv and all other lights are off Let him scream.
He is learing at this young age that all he has to do is scream his little head off, and he will get his way. Break him of it now, or he will just continue.
I had to do this...it is very hard, but it worked. Put the child to bed with no TV. He/she will scream for a few nights, but once the habit is broken he will be used to going to bed with only a book or whatever the new night time routine is. It is something that needs to be done. Also, do not keep going into the room and if he comes out, just carry or direct him back into his bed without saying a word. I know all this sounds harsh, but trust me it works. My 3 yr old cried for about the first 4 nights then it was all over. Now we just read 2 books, then he goes to bed! I would just deal with it. It could be worse he could just not be sleeping at all. If thats what helps him sleep I would deal with it. good luck
