Why is my 19mo old so addicted to Barney?

lots of colors and movement and singing what 19 month old wouldnt want to spend all day watching it... even if it drives everyone else crazy with the songs... if your child isnt already going around singing the sond consider yourself lucky my baby sister did that for ythe longest time it drove me nuts ( i am 9 years older then her so i was a little beyond barney at the time)

If you record "Barney", then slow it down to 1/3 speed, you will hear little subliminal messages to children under 5. I've heard the same thing with the "teletubbies". Until I realized this nothing about the obsession made sense to me.
My 2 1/2 year old also LOVES Barney. I think it is seeing the other children doing things that look fun. Also there are a LOT of silly, fun songs for them to enjoy. Barney is OK- he's just a big purple dinosaur that likes having fun. Plus he teaches good values and important lessons. I'm glad my son watches it, because it's educational unlike some kids shows out there (Power Rangers, etc.) my oldest was addicted to teletubbies my middle child to spiderman and the youngest boobah... Each child is different it is because it catches theis interest. The color, sounds and seeing other kids on there.
We successfuly got my daughter from age 2-5 before she knew what barney was. We decided to go with the devil (elmo) we knew.
