What is the best way to wean my one year old from the bottle?

his pediatrician says to start replacing formula with milk and food, which we do now, but we are terrified of the "no bottles" situation... any advice?

Answers:
I agree with everyone else. What I did I waited about 2weeks after he turned a year old I threw all but one bottle away. In the morning I used the bottle and toward evenings and nights I used the sippy cups. A week after that I threw the bottle out and encouraged the sippy cups and table foods. It is hard to do but you can do it. Good Luck.

This is what I did it may or may not work for you.
The day he turned one I took the bottle away and he just started using the sippy cups with no problem. I did make sure I hid all the bottles so he wouldn't see them. Good Luck!

wkae up on morning with no bottles in site offer a sippy cup instead he may get a little cranky around nap time but stay strong don't give in i promise it gets better in a couple of days

3 kids I have tried all of that and it just doesn't work. I need help in this area real bad too.

This greatly depends on your patience. From my own experience I thru it out the window as he watched and said ok now your a big boy. He cried for a minute or two then when he quit I had his favorite drink in a cute cup.

Iwouldnt worry if he is ready to give up the bottle you'll know. try just giving him a bottle just at night for a while. Also there are new sippy cups at Wal-mart that have a soft tip... this is what helped our son get off the bottle.
