any advice on how to potty train a 2 year boy?

Answers:
I have potty trained 5 kiddos, 4 of my own, and 1 that I babysit. I have done this with each one, and they are potty trained completely within 3 or 4 days. My girls potty trained at about 18-20 months, and my boys at around their 2nd birthday.

I take them to the bathroom every 15 minutes. I set a timer for my benefit, because I will forget, but after it goes off a few times, your little boy will know what it is for, and just run to the bathroom. While we are in there, I bring a bunch of toys, and books, and I try to make the time in there as enjoyable as possible. Do your best to keep him occupied, because the goal is to keep him on the potty, as long as possible without him getting upset. The last thing you want to happen is for him to hate to go in there, so you need to try and make it fun. When he finally does go in the potty, give him a little treat, and dance around and make a HUGE deal out of it.
I don't like to use pull-ups while they are still training. While they are up, I would just keep him in big boy underwear. During naps and at night, I put plastic pants over there underwear. Afer they are completely trained during the day, you can go to pull-ups afterwards, if they still aren't night trained.
Consistency is key. Word of warning, you won't get a thing done while you are doing this. you will feel like your entire day has been spent in the bathroom, but they will potty train so fast, it is worth it.

nurse mother grandmother
have him watch his dad or older brother

put a cheerio in the tiolet for him to aim at (makes it a game) and make a big deal if he goes, clapping and lots of woohoos

dont use diapers or pullups at home- have him wear big boy pants that he has picked out with is favorite character and let him run around in them and show them off. you want him to be proud of them and reinforce the idea to keep them clean and not get any yucky peepee or #2 on them

good luck!
2 may be a little early. They should show some signs that they're ready to be trained. Does he tell you when he's wet or that he is going pee-pee? (Or is he shy, like mine and when he goes (No.2) he hides?) You need lots of praise and consistency, never scold. My doctor offered some good advice for me for my little boy who is now 3 and only goes on the potty if HE wants a reward. It takes some patience, but he said he should be trained within a week.

He said to put him in underwear (not pull-ups) and let him wet himself. Most likely he will come to me because he is now wet and uncomfortable. Make him stop playing or watching TV or whatever he's doing until HE undresses himself and HE puts on new clothes. After he realizes that this interruption to his play is no fun, he'll start using the potty. I am going to start in the warmer months since I have more shorts than pants so I won't be doing laundry every three hours!

Good luck and remember, he may be too young.
Sometimes it helps to reward the child for going. I have potty trained children at the same age using m&m's or stickers. The can recieve one for everytime they go in the potty. It gives them something to look forward too.

Yeah, there's a really good book out there called "Toilet training in less than a day" It really does work, some kids are harder than others and it may take longer, but its the best method I've yet come accross
