i want to know what happened to those that got hit by their parents when they were young?

I think that if my parents would have disclipined me, I would not have had so much trouble in school with my attitude and authority figures; I still struggle with that at 24. I'm not saying that you have to knock your child out, but a stern spanking every now and then wouldn't hurt. I dont think you should spank them when they anger you, but more when they do things that endanger their well-being.
My mother never spanked me because she was raped when she was five and she didn't want to see her daughters cry, but my father never spanked me because he just didn't care at all.

I wasnt hit, but my wife was... and raped... she has flashbacks from time to time that cause what appears like athsma/panic attacks, and eventually loses the ability to speak for hours on end.i've also seen it cause a retaliation against authority figures and manic depression, sometimes becoming bipolarism. but the occasional spank/slap that doesnt actually cause lasting pain.... that's how i grew up. I don't know of any symptoms i have from that
The benefits I guess would people would not report you for allegid "child abuse".(by not hitting your kids) My mother would spank me and my sisters at the appropriate times. Ya know, when we really did something to deserve it. I see no problem w/ spanking (to punish) your children, as long as its not an all day prolonged thing. A swat on the hand in a store is not as bad as people spanking their chilren b/c people look at these things as abuse. And these days, kids know what the letters DCFS means too. I've heard kids threaten it on their parents before just b/c they got spanked. Closing up, I think there is NO problem spanking your child. It shows who is authority, and that they are in the wrong. Try positive reinforcement. Compliment them when they do good, but explain to them when they have done bad. Well, I can say, I got spanked when I was little, and I'm perfectly fine. Good luck.
My parents use to hit me. i use to be scared of them. I have six boys now and i try not to spank them but sometimes you just have to. but now they say mommy please don't hit me. it makes me think back when i child and makes want to cry so then i tell them i am sorry
