is it too early to start potty training at 12 monthes?

I have a son who is 12 monthes old and keeps removing his diper and finds that fact that anyone go to the bathroom is fastinating

You have to ask yourself a few questions:

Does the child show an interest in the potty? If not, dont push it.

Is your child physically ready for potty training? A child must be strong enough and independent enough to pull down their pants and to climb onto the potty. If the child cannot do that by themselves, you're just training the parents.

Also, a child must have some sort of communication skills to let the parent know when they have to potty (verbal, physical cues, sign language etc).

Good luck!

Other Answers:
Nope. The right time to do it is anywhere from 12 months to 30. Whenever he/she shows an interest is a good sign.

Be happy!

Yes it is too early. My sons are 15 months and I know some have said when children are potty trained this young, it is more the parents who are trained than the child. Think about it. Every kid is different do what you think is best for your kid but the recommended age is 24-27 months.

He might take to it right away or he might take to it as a fad and go back to diapers for awhile and then be ready later my mother told me not to worry he will be potty trained before he gets married don't worry

Yes in never to early to start.

go to Yahoo search and tipe potty training and you will have all the answers you need, i found a lot but i can't put them on this litlle space. www.search.yahoo.com

Potty training depends on each kid. However if your son is doing that then you might go ahead it try. Once you do start don't get upset or quit it'll take time and a lot of accidents. Good luck and have fun. we had some kids from european cultures in my daycare and they were fully trained before 18 months. they thought WE were weird to wait until the child could speak or be over age 2 lol. it really opened my eyes to how there are many different ways to parent!

If they under stand what you wont of them it's never to early.

personal experice I have 3.

nope... i started my daughter at 12 months also, it took her a little longer to be completly done... but she was completly potty broken at 1 1/2... people thinks that its amazing when they are potty broken that young

My cousin was completely trained at 13 months. I have two small boys one of whom is very slowlyyyy training, he's 2 1/2. It depends on the child, but don't push it too fast. Its not to young as long as its not forced and don't expect him to remember everytime. Right now he is just mimicking and might not put the two things together.

It depends alot on the child. My 3 y.o. wanted to try at about a year & we let her. Unfortunately her heart surgury made it not work out since she wasn't able to continue at that time. Now our 15 m.o. sees her sister doing it & wants to try also. The little one also will take off her diper when she's wet, and also sometimes before she pees to let us know she needs to. Give it a try & see how it goes, but don't get frustrated if he loses interest, it could just be fun right now untill he finds a new"hobby". I know 4 y.o. & older who still have problems even though the parents try everything. Also, the more he sees his "peers" goint potty in a toilet, the more he will want to also.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Are you insane? This child has NO chance of being potty trained. There is a physical process called myalination which is to do with the coating of the nerves. Until myalination has taken place it is physically impossible for you child to control him/herself - do NOT expect anything different. You are putting waaayyyy too much pressure on yourself and on your child - forget it for another year. Your baby will be 15 before you know it - enjoy the baby bit :0) Trust me on this one!

go for it .....every kids different....my sis was potty trained at 13 months
