Grumpy when waking up from nap?

Is there a way to keep my girls from being grumpy when they wake up from their naps? It doesn't happen every time and it doesn't matter if it's a 30 minute nap or a 2 hour nap. But it seems like half of the time when they wake up they are very cranky and disagreeable, and they stay this way for an hour or so afterwards no matter what we do. Do other people's kids do this? Is there a solution?

Answers:
My son used to be like this. I started giving him juice and a fruit snack after his nap. It was something for him to look forward to. I never bribed him with it, he just learned that after his nap he would get a snack.
My little guy is sometimes grumpy, but he is a slow waker...so, go in, keep things quiet, speak to him softly, hold him maybe pick up a book and we read it and sometimes I just lay down with him either on the floor or in my bed until he's ready to face the world!
