14 months ripened toddler hang on to food contained by the mouth and don't swallow?

My son is 14 months old. All of sudden he stop eating and drinking. when I offer him solid food he keeps in the mouth and afterwards spit it, don't swallow. Is there any way I can create him to swallow the food.

Answers:    My son has been doing this since he be 14 months old. When he gets full he purely starts playing with his food by putting it in his mouth and letting it sit within there. Just take the food away and put him down to play--he is finished consumption. He will swallow it when he's ready. You can't force him to. What I found works really well is afford him something he really likes to drink. Most of the time he will have to swallow to take a drink. Works like a charm to get that end bit of food down.
i'm assuming you've had him to the doctor and ruled out ear and throat infections, so onward:

how do you produce him swallow? easy: you don't - it's a game to him. if you're still feed him, try switching to finger foods and don't feed him any more - let him nurture himself. when mealtime is over, take away what's vanished without comment or reaction. he'll get through or he won't - the one thing he won't do is starve himself to death.

if you stress and harp on his drinking, however, you are setting yourself up for years of food battles and power struggles. every time he gets silly at you, he'll retaliate by not eating. food will become a reward/punishment system, not what it is: fuel for the body.

your job is to determine WHAT and WHEN he will get through. his job is to determine HOW MUCH or even IF he will eat. save it to that and life gets greatly less stressful.
lol. when my son was a toddler, he would be walking around next to food stored in his cheeks. i think he be full and just playing with it. i used to go and get worried about him choking on it (disgusted as well) so i used to tell him to spit it out into my hand. to be honest i dont think you can force him to swallow at all i contemplate you should get him involved when you are doing the dinner and make sticks of things and trademark it fun gud luck anyway x
It might be a texture thing. My kid does the same piece with chicken, veggies,... Try to give it to him an hour next when he is a bit hungrier or try a different food that you know he likes. Maybe you are overfeeding him. He would swallow if he was really hungry.
