Dentist says my 3 year old needs his 2nd year molars capped?

My son went to his first dental visit this week. The dentist says he needs his 2nd year molars capped because the enamel didn't form right. I took him for a second opinion at my dentist and he agreed. How much should this cost? They're telling me $2000 for 4 teeth. At first I thought it was his 1st year and 2nd year molars but my wife says just the 2nd year. He is going to be getting his tonsils out soon and they want to schedule the dental work during that surgery while he's already out.

Answers:
Yes! I just paid 600 dollars for one root canal and a filling, they didnt wanna pull it cuz they said it will mess up her teeth growing in. Sucks, and she has lots more work to go, all b/c of antibiotics for ear infections they said that makes the teeth soft. Thank God
I get insurance june 1st on her!

It is extremely expensive but well worth it when he get's older. The capping will help prevent cavaties.

Only advice I can give you is do it. I know the cost is high but the cost will be much higher down the road if it is not done. You want your son to have a healthy smile and sometimes that can be costly but well worth it. I have herd of the white fillings for preventing cavitys but not capping unless his teeth were already bad.

then do it
