How do i get my 2.5 year old son to give up his bottle and start eating more food too?

Answers:
Start giving him nothing but water in his bottle and at first only let him take it at bed time. Dont let him have it during the day to just walk around with. Then when he ites a hole in the nipple tell him it is broke and hand him a cup. My daughter was three before she finally quit using hers. But if you put everything good, like koolaid and milk and juice, in a cup then he will start liking the cup better anyhow. It worked really well for me.
But as for eating a doctor will tell you that a childs stomach size is the size of there fist so if they only eat a couple of teaspoons of food at serving time they are still getting what they need. The eating part will have to come when he is ready. Dont let him drink a whole lot of milk because that does fill a little stomach up. Good luck to you.

Simple, TAKE IT AWAY!!!!! you should have done it a year ago.
Just take it away! You should have done that when he turned 1 and now it will be harder for him to adjust. Not to mention that sucking on a bottle is not good for his teeth. Replace it with a sippy cup. He will be very upset at first but he will soon adjust to the change. Just be strong and don't give in.
sippy cups during the day at night one bottle the lose a night every week with the bottle and that should ween him.
Nuby makes a great sippie cup with a silicone nipple this was an easy transition for my child you can find them at your local walmart for about a dollar they are leak proof and they can take them to bed, just throw out all of the bottles in the house tell him thats all you have and when he is thirsy he'll take it
I took my son's bottle away a week after he turned 1 cold turkey. I don't think he even noticed. He had already been using sippy cups.
You've got to do it cold turkey. He won't eat if he is so full from drinking. He'll eat when he gets hungry enough. you need to get ALL the bottles out of your house so you don't give in when he pitches a hissy fit that won't quit! The first time you give in after you take it away, he'll know your not serious and will just learn to keep having fits till you give in.
You can try one of these:
1) cut a bigger hole in the nipple it will make the flow of the liquid un comfortable for your toddler so he will soon get irritated and give it up.
2) at that age they are eager to use scissors so tell him that now he is a big boy he can cut all the nipples of his bottles, it will be fun for him to do as he is eager to use the scissors and when he later cries about his bottle you just say it was him who cut it not you so it is his fault.
