My daughter just turned 4 in January, I want to get her ready for Kindigarden, what is she suppose to know, what can I teach her etc... and what should she already know?
I want to make sure she is on the right track. Thanks

Answers:
Most schools want them to know:
ABC's recongize them written and able to name them even if not in order (use flash cards)
Dress self including tie shoes
Right and left
numbers to 20 able to read them and say them (flash cards again)
Spell first and last name and write it on paper
know adress and phone number (verbaly only no need to write it yet thank goodness)
Opposites like big little fat skinny
Basic shapes round square triangle
That's all i can think of right now. But i suggest buying a Kindergarten workbook from a school supply store or even Walmart when they get them in with the fall school supplies. Run copies and work on them every day for an hour.

WELL BASICLY NOTHING EXEPT TALKING AND A LIL SPELLING I MEAN THATS WHAT KIDS GO TO KINDERGARDEN FOR TO LEARN

Check with your schoolboard, According to federal law, children can be entered into the school system at 3. I just went through all this with my child. Any special programs that are available, you will be eligible for. Check with your local schools. But I hope you learn how to spell with her because you need to.

being a good boy or girl and dont follow others

well my three year old nows how to count the alphabet and colors. she also nows a few shapes. she can identify animals by sound. it all depends

Well where I live they want children to know there ABCs, 123s, Colors, Shapes, and also to be able to Read and even know some Math. The things that my children are learning these days is way diff. then what I learned in Kindergarten. You would be surprised to know that kindergartens learn alot in their first year of school. I was utterly shocked. Most children knew birthdays, addresses, letters, shapes, colors everything. They want them to able to do these things before Christmas at our school. My son is now getting ready to go to 1st grade he can write, read words, do simple math additiion and subtraction. I would do alot of practicing over the summer. ABC's numbers, writing everything!!!

If you want to give her a head start get some books and games that teach alphabet, colours, numbers, names of things like animals, plants, countries... You can find stuff like this anywhere, your grocery store in the book isle, toys r us, wal-mart, ect. But as long as your child uses the toilet without accidents (at least durring the day), she/he's pretty much good to go. Also shows like Dora the Explorer, Sesame street, ect are good, and if you go to web sites such as PBS, Y-TV and teletoon, you can find learning games that she can play with you on line, for free, that will help develope skills. Good luck, and have fun:-)

It depends on the school. Some school just require that a child be five, know their name, how old they are and be fully potty trained.

I do know it would be good if she knows how to say her ABC"S, 123's, her name, how old she is, her parents names and her basic shapes. Everything else they should teach her in Kindergarten.

I am working with my son writing his name and recognizing his ABC's and 123's out of order. Just work with her until September, she will do fine. Don't stress, what ever she doesn't know they will teach her in Kindergarten. For kindergarten I would say they should know how to spell their name, count to at least 20, sing the ABC's, know what the letters look like and how some of them sound, recognize shapes & colors, be able to use the bathroom alone, dress themselves, and maybe tie their shoes. Some things you could do to get her ready could be reading a book and seeing if she can sound out some small words or try writing out the alphabet and having her copy it and do the same with numbers. Have her practice little things like that and she should be good to go! :)
