Do you think 18 months is too young for a toddler bed?

My daughter is 18 months and my husband and I are trying to deside if we should move her to a toddler bed.

Answers:
18 mos would be fine but keep in mind, if you are a heavy sleeper, an 18 mo. old can get in to very dangerous items in the house. Make sure you have the house child proofed, all over again. Put a lock at the top of your doors. Put locks on cabinets. Also if you can, put a gate up going in to kitchen. My grandson who was 18 mos old pushed a chair up to the kitchen counter while I was asleep and decided to help him self to cookies in the cookie jar and tried to get to the Infant Tylenol that was in the top cabinet over my stove. The little rascal had watched me too many times, putting it away!!
They are very quiet and get in to everything if you are sleeping and do not hear them get up. That's why cribs are so handy. Put a gate up at his bedroom doorway. Have an alarm system installed so that it beeps if any of your doors are opened. This have literally saved me from heart failuare in the past when my twins grandchildren who are 7 now, couldnt find me coz I was in the garage and thhey went outside thinking I was in the frint yard. I heard the beep and found otu they had gone outside looking for me, at age 3.

My son isn't even 1 yet and he has already been sleeping on a twin mattress on the floor(do to a pcs move). He wouldn't sleep in his pack n play, and his crib hadn't arrived yet, so we did that...he loves it! He has never rolled off or anything. We just have a babygate that we put in his doorway at night, we don't want to wake up to him tumbling down the stairs. :-)
no as long as it still has some kind of railings.
No it should be fine.
no i have 4 childen thay all was in one by then
It's ok! I moved my son to a toddler bed at that age. Just make SURE you have a SIDE RAIL!! It is very unsafe to have them in a bed they could roll off of, w/out a side rail.
This is the age I moved my son to his own bed. I think 18 months is just right. I wouldn't choose a toddler bed if your child rolls around alot in their sleep. Kids outgrow toddler beds MUCH quicker than the recommended ages on them! If you have the room, get a twin or full-size bed. You'll probably want to use bed rails, and sometimes these take up extra space on the sides of the mattress. I chose a full-size bed for my son, and it still seems too small. Sometimes he wants to hold my hand at night and so I climb in bed with him. It's much easier on your back than having to bend down into the crib (something I'm sure you won't miss!) My son transitioned easily to his own bed. Especially since we put it in the same spot in the room where his crib was. Though that's not always needed. Some kids do great regardless of where they sleep and what changes you make. I hope this info helps!

I think that is about the right age. My husband and I are foster parents, and our county rules state that foster children must sleep in a crib until they are 2. However, almost every toddler we've had in our home are climbing out of their cribs by 18 months or so... safety prevails -- we move them to the toddler bed when they start climbing, and they have all done fine. The little guy we have now, though, gets up all the time throughout the night because he knows he can do it without being heard! Your daughter will probably do fine, if you can handle it! Be prepared for anything!! It may give her a sense of independence she hasn't experienced before!
No way! it should'nt be, as long as your daughter can adjust to the change she should'nt be too young for the toddler bed.
no thats not too young for a toddler bed my daughter was about 14 months when we gave her a toddler but. she wont be 18 months till next month. she has no problem with it, and your son will love it!
