How to Teach Your Toddler Colors?

Answers:
With colored blocks. Hand him one and say "red". Hand him another and say "blue".

Eventually you can ask him "Give me a red block." He'll learn the colors eventually.

Other Answers:
use everyday items and when you are doing things tell him/her what color it is . at the grocery when you pick an item show it to your child and say the color . i used toys too . i would take a couple of toys and tell my kids what color it was .
you can also buy flash cards with shapes , colors etc on them . another thing i did was used M&Ms or skittles as a treat while teaching the colors .
good luck and have fun . it may take some time
repetition is the best way. It may take a couple of months to work. At school we have found that using songs and matching objects at the same time seem to work. The main thing is that whatever you use has to be the same each time you use it. The toddlers need the consistency. It works! We have 2 year olds who can say the pledge of Allegiance because of repetition!

this type of teaching works in our preschool
Start with red, Show your child that something is red for a few weeks then start to ask what colour a thing is. I pointed at red cars when walking to the shop for by son. He was soon pointing at them and saying red.
find items with solid colors and sit down and and say the color names and have them repeat it they will learn in time

CANDY. skittles is what works best for me and if they get it right they get to eat it.
When my son and I (he's almost 3) are out and about we talk about what colors things are. He knows some of them, but not all just yet... We have also been coloring more and painting with water colors, the kind with 16 colors. It's really helping him learn.
You don't really have to sit down and teach him colors, just anytime you have the opportunity teach him a color like if you're getting him dressed say "What a nice green shirt" or when you see a dog say "Look at that brown puppy"..eventually he'll catch on but if you do have the time to sit down and teach him that would be just as good :)
my son sits with me everyday at least 3 times a day and goes through the colours of his blocks with me. he also watches the wiggles and similar shows that have a lot of colour in them. repetitiveness each day is the best. my son is 2 and he knows all his colours and can count to 12. the trick is to sit with them for a short time a few times a day and go through colours and numbers. get some blocks, magnets on the fridge. there are heaps of toys around to help with this
use the colors here along with the a b c's other fun stuff too..free
