my mom :P
do u use cloth or paper/plastic diapers. if u use paper/plastic diapers, u might switch to cloth. Otherwise u might discuss this with an MD.
It's YEAST. Your baby has a yeast infection. You could buy creams (monistat) for it, but the best thing is plain chilled yogurt. The acidolphilis in the yogurt eats the candida (yeast). It's natural, it doesn't cause irritation and it clears up the rash. It also feels very nice on the baby's skin and eases the itching.Source(s):
Have baby brothers with yeast rashes...
My daughter has the same thing right now.
What has worked for us is:
-Lotion. The higher quality stuff. I use Nivea on her and it seems to help a great deal, seems to be her rash is triggered by dry skin.
And
-hydrocortisone ointment! This took the rash away over night!
Good luck!
Well it could be alot of different things. When my daughter was that age we found out it was that she was allergicto her own urine beingon her bottom for any length of time so try changing her and buy those huggies wash clothes to wash her bottom off at evey diaper change, and try pampers (if u aren't using them) they absorb pretty good, and try huggies nighttime for at bed time it really soaks up urine. If this doesn't help contact ur family dr. i live in houston,tx and we have this cream called dr smith's butt creme it is very good it is a mixture of zinc oxide(desitin) and petroleum jelly.i am also a nurse and we use this particular ointment on our patients. i have used it on my son and it was very effective.there is also a creme called boudreaux's butt paste and it's very good.CAUTION:you may want to use hydrocortisone creams in moderation afterall they are topical steroids and even at 1% concentration, excessive use may be damaging.read the insructions carefully prior to using.i have read some of the other posts about it being yeast, pls disregard those responses until you have taken your child to a MD(PEDI DERMATOLOGIST)IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DIAGNOSE A RASH W/O HAVING SEEN IT FIRST.it could be yeast ,acute dermatitis, prickly heat, etc.

experience as a nurse and mother
I had the same problem as a toddler. My mom swiched to cloth and the rash went away.
I always used A&D oriment and it worked fine for me. Don't use any kind of powder it can get into their lungs and give them breathing problems.I've noticed that when I use certain diapers is when my little girl gets diaper rash. You might want to change to a "breathable" diaper. Also, after wiping your little one with the wet wipes follow up with a dry towel. No need for the extra moisture. And diaper cream has never worked on my little one, it has actually made it worst. I'm not saying not to try it, because every baby is different, just check to see if it is helping or harming. Plus, diaper cream is suppose to be used as a preventative measure.

personal experience If your baby recently had a fever and now has a spotty, raised or flat, rosy-pink rash, it could be roseola, also called roseola infantum. A fairly mild and common viral disease, roseola usually strikes children between 6 months and 2 years of age. Roseola is caused by a kind of herpes virus, although not the type that's sexually transmitted.
The rash is red and may have small flat spots or raised bumps. These spots may have a lighter "halo" around them, and they may turn white if you press on them. There's no specific treatment for this viral illness. The most important thing you can do is to make sure your baby rests and gets plenty of breast milk or formula. It IS contagious. The good news: Once your baby has had roseola, he'll probably have lifelong immunity to it.
