When do you switch from a crib to a bed for a toddler (15 mos)?

Answers:
It's a right time to put your toddler in a big bed when you and your child are ready for it :)! There isn't a magic age!

Most doctors will tell you until at least two. You move your child when you both are ready. Some kids do great in cribs others do not and need to be moved sooner. My son moved into a "big boy bed" when he was 22 months out of necessity - I needed his crib for my daughter who was born when he was almost 19 months. Now my daughter is 18 months and still in the crib and I have had to move it to the lowest setting. We hope to have another child when she is two in a half so we would need the crib until then, but knowing my daughter she will probably be out before then because she is a climber and it will be a safety risk.

GOOD LUCK!

When they can climb out of the crib.

Edit: MOST kids climb out before the age of 2. Some are earlier and some are later. It is NOT USUALLY 3 years old as another responder stated.
Usually it's around 3 years old. Sometimes it may be before, depends on if and when your toddler is able to climb out of the crib. You can find the beds that have railing on the side to keep him from falling. Another thing you can do is place the bed up against a wall and put the railing on the other side, that way if they roll during the night they are secured by the wall on one side and the bed rail on the other.
Some people keep their children in cribs all the way to the age of three. I decided that when my boys were big and strong enough to climb up and down from the couch, dining room chairs and my King size bed that they could handle their own bed change.
i switched my kids around 18 months. it helped to make them start re-enforcing that they were "big kids" as we eased in to potty training around 2.
I did at 18 months with my first, 15 months with my second.
I switched at 14 months and all I did was put her in the toddler bed instead of a crib and she was fine with it. Of course she is in the same room as me too.
