My son is 18 months old and weighs 42 pounds and is 36 inches tall, what is a normal weight for that age?
My son weighed 11 lbs when he was born. He grew proportionally. He was always far taller and heaver than the other children. I'm glad he has the heart of a lover and not a fighter!
The biggest problem we ran into was everyone expecting him to act older than he was. They thought he was immature, or even challenged because he didn't act as old as he looked. I did a lot of explaining, but, overall I was able to keep him from feeling like an odd duck.
When he went to Jr. High there were some other tall kids there, so things were a bit easier after that. He's a college graduate now, on his way to being a teacher, and he's 6'5". Needless to say.... I'm quite proud of him!
Hang in there. When people are rude, ignore them! Make sure he knows how great it is to be tall and how wonderful he is!
Do you take him to the doctor for regular checkups? You need to. A 4 to 5 year old weighs 42 pounds. Maybe he's a giant.
There is no such thing as normal. If he is not sick then he is fine. It's all about genetics. Chances are he will just be really tall. Even if he is going to be a giant there is nothing u can do about it. Just make sure he eats healthy and gets 30 minutes of physical activity.
u should take him to the doctor... maybe ur feeding him too much. i think the normal weight for 18 month baby is like 20 lbs
He sound's really tall for his age. You should compare height and weight, if they are proportional, you're ok, if not talk to your doctor about life style changes you can make to help him. My 3 year old is 39in and 44 lbs and she's only a little over in weight, 95th percentile for height, 99th for weight. Your son sounds similar in size, so just big for his age! Be proud, it means you're doing good with him.
He may thin out some as he gets older and/or more active. But if you feed him healthy things and make sure he stays active playing he should be okay. He is larger then average for that age. But that doesn't mean he is overweight, especially since he is so tall. Well thats just what I think. You should keep track of his growth.
Ask a doctor. He is pretty big for his age, but ask his fathers parents how babies that age in their family grew, same with yours, if there isn't a link, there are other possibilities like thyroid disease or giantism that only his pediatrician and diagnos. his is just probobly going to be a big adult. good luck buying shoes.

Finally! I thought my son was the only odd child for his height and weight. My son was 12 lbs. when he was born. He is now 19 months old and weighs 35 lbs and is 35 inches tall. As long as you take him to the doctor for his well baby check ups and feed him his veggies and fruit then he is fine. You just might have a football player in the near future. I hear all kinds of lectures when people find out how much my son weighs and how old he is. I have learned just to ignore it because I have got tired of explaining why he is so big for his age.
WOW! Your son weighs 3# more and is 2 inches shorter than my 3 1/2 yr. old son; I'd consult a doctor.
