Yes, It is a little cupped shape device made of rubber. It has a thick rim around the top. You put a spermicide(sperm killer) gel around the rim. You fold it in half and insert it up into the vaginal canal. When you let go, it opens up and prevents a guys sperm from swimming up too far as to get you pregnant. The gel is an added precaution, in case a few sperm riggle around the edge of the diaphram. In THAT event, the gel will kill them.
You have to see your gynocologist to be fitted for one. We all don't wear the same size. If it's too small or too big, you can get pregnant. It must fit perfectly.
They are not that popular because they are very slippery,(due to the gel), making them hard to hold on to while you're putting it inside.
