14 yr old daughter cutting self when she gets mad?

Question:
what should i do?

Answers:
I worked with a support line for sexual assault victims and I learned a lot about cutting from them. I also had friends who cut themselves in elementry school at the ages of thirteen and fourteen. My friends from school seemed to do it for attention, and also because it was something 'rebellious' and 'wrong'. They usually cut scratched themselves more than cut and did not leave scars, luckily they both grew out of it after a couple months. However I do know that cutting can be a sign of much deeper problems, especially depression. Cutters will harms themselves in order to "feel". They have no other way of coping with their own emotions so they use self harm as a way of releasing their built up anguish. Honestly, I am not an expert and know very little, but if you feel that your daughter is cutting for the second reason you should send her for some type of counseling. They will teach her other ways of expressing her emotions and will teach her other method which will stop her from cutting (like splashing her face with cold water when she feels like cutting). I also found a website which provides a little info on teens and cutting. I'll put it under sources. I sincerely hope everything works out for you and your daughter.

PLEASE get her help immediately. There may be things she needs help with. Be positive and supportive and get her help now.

you should take her to a mental health dr sometimes they do that to get rid of the anger they have inside of them get her professional help your family doctor should be able to steer you in the right direction....Do not delay in this before she causes herself serious harm ....

Your daughter needs serious help for self mutilation. You need to seek a doctors opinion and help from your church

You should have her tested for BI-Polar. I have a few friends who are bi-polar and they go through some sort of attacks and they get violent towards themselves and others. Kind of like big mood swings. My husband's uncle was bi-polar and he had it for years.

SIT DOWN WITH YOUR DAUGHTER AND HAVE A HEART TO HEART CONVERSATION WITH HER. FIND OUT WHY SHE FINDS IT IN HER HEART TO DISFIGURE HER BODY LIKE THAT. IF THE TALKING DOESN'T WORK, TAKE HER TO A PHYSICIAN AND GET HER HELP QUICKLY BEFORE IT'S TO LATE.

GOOD LUCK MOM!!

U need to be really supportive and keep your eyes open. Get her help ASAP. lol ur girl got problems u need to get her help fast!

First thing to be done is be supportive and Caring. MAke her feel that u( parents n family members) love her very much and cant live without her. Make her feel that u guys love her more than anyone.
If this doesnt work, please take her to some councelling.
I wish u daughter get wel as early as possible.

Get her help. This is a sign that something is just not right. Get yourself some counseling at the same time. Sometimes things like this are cries for attention or to punish you for something you've done. Going to counseling will help you find your triggers or what in your life is not going right that may reflect negatively on your daughter. But then also make sure that you and your daughter are having genuine conversations about this. It's a serious thing. Every little girl needs to have a parent that she can talk to (especially her mother) and if she's comfortable talking to you (without it becoming heated), she may just open up and stop cutting herself. But definitely, seek professional help first. get her some help i cut and now i can't stop cutting and it's ruing my life

well does she know that u know well if she does then u should put her in support group and there should be more teenagers like her with the same problem that she has
