Surprise birth? Or late discovery of pregnancy?

My sister-in-law just learned that she was pregnant, and doctors say she's about 7 months along! This isn't her first child, either! I'm wondering if this happens a lot? I've also heard of women (usually teens) giving birth without having known they were pregnant. Does anyone have first hand experience with this? How is it possible?

I agree that she could have just been in denial. If her first kid is still very young some women feel ashamed that they got pregnant again soon. I know if I got pregnant right now (my daughter is 7 months) it would take me a long time to tell my family - more like days, not months, but... she must have known - just couldn't own up to it. I guess if she's a very large woman she might not have known, but I can't imagine not knowing if she's already had a kid. You feel preggers when you're pregnant.

i agree with the full of it bit...once its your second pregnancy you can feel fetal movement as early as 4-5 months so having a little one kicking in there would be hard not to notice not to mention she's had other kids so you start to show earlier with each pregnancy i totally think she's full of it. i'm 37 weeks preg right now and i don't think its possible for me to have not known i was pregnant...

I hate when people judge! I did not know I was pregnant with my son for quite a some time. Was I dumb or full of it? Neither actually. I was in denial.

A friend of mine's aunt is the same way. She has 5 kids, always gets her period throughout, and doesn't show hardly at all. I think for some women it's possible.

I always get a clue at the "can't stay awake on the way home, crying into a sink of dishes, vomiting while thinking about what I am going to eat immediately after" phase, which begins at 6 weeks on the dot for me!

I have a friend that didnt know she was pregnant until she was in labor. she had cervicle cancer and was told she was sterile afterwards. but she had NO signs of pregnancy. she one day had seviere back pain and went to the er, and they found nothing but then when one doctor saw a pattern in the pain they did an ultra sound and found a baby. its very possable.
