16 weeks pregnant and ovarian cyst?
Answers:
This could very possibly be a corpus luteum cyst, which would be on the side that you ovulated from when you got pregnant...in which case it is very normal and not to worry...
I had one, too. As long as it appears fluid-filled and clear, it isn't a concern. I didn't have any symptoms either.
I really think that you're alright. If I were you (and this is what I did after they found that cyst), I'd ask for another ultrasound in a month or so to see if the size of the cyst has changed or if it has already disappeared on its own. You don't want to wait too long though, because if you do, baby will be too big for them to be able to see your ovaries any longer.
I would not have a cyst messed with during pregnancy unless the doctor thought it was some BIG problem, and they usually are not.
In fact, my FIRST obstetrician wanted to go in and remove the cyst WHILE i was pregnant but after 12 weeks, of course I went to my family doctor for a second opinon, and she said, HECK NO! And suggested finding another OB! The second OB said there was absolutely nothing to worry about, didn't even feel a need to look at it, but I insisted and she did. It was so small that she said it was nothing that would ever concern her.
Good luck and I hope this helps calm you.
yea, I had 2 of them with my daughter....they usually go away on their own....go to www.babycenter.com and put in your due date they tell you what to expect, theres message boards on there from other expectant mothers that have the same problems
