Who will be in the delivery room with you, why?

Question:
I will have my husband and my mom. They have been present at the others. I am totally not the one to have a room full of observers. I believe that birth is an intimate moment to be shared with only those you are close to. My daughters are too young to understand the pain and blood. Mothers giving birth are beautiful...but they are not a science experiment/specimen.

Answers:
I only had my husband. I was in too much pain to worry about who else might be hanging around, and I didn't want to have to deal with it.

Other Answers:
LOL! For my daughter I had my husband and mom, my dad, his GF, and my brother's GF. AND, four nurses, a pede's nurse and my OB.

For my son, I had my hubby 2 nurses and the dr. My mom took my daughter OUT and brought her back in after the birth. My SD and best friend arrived too late for the birth.
I had my hubby and all the necessary Dr.'s and Nurses. Kids don't understand and can get scared if Mommy is hurting and all the wonderful other things that go along with birthing a baby. Good Luck.
my mom my grandma and my sister
I agree!

I, unfortunately, had c-sections with both of my girls. Our plan had been to have my husband, my Mom & (maybe) my sister in the room. Didn't pan out that way though.

However, I was present for the birth of my sister's baby and it's something I'll never forget. It SHOULD be intimate and low-key (if possible), because it really is a sort of magical moment, and deserves to be respected in that way, not treated as a series of procedures to get through.

I'd say make a very specific birth plan and stick to it, so long as it is safe and reasonable. YOU are the one having the baby, and you have the last say on everything, especially who's in the room.

Take care and Congratulations! :)

2 pregnancies --> 2 beautiful girls :)
lol...for my birth. I had planned for only my husband and mother to be there, but at the last minute my younger sister showed up, so she ended up staying there, too. Right after the birth though, My husband and I spent time alone with the baby... to help with the bonding and breastfeeding. After about 3hrs. we started having visitors. Good Luck
well i haven't had any kids yet i am only going to have kids when i'm married.Hey if i have a baby before i get married i am going to have my mom, my sister , my cousin,or my babydaddy

holla
I just want my husband there. No one else. I'm Kinda weird about who is in the rm.I dont want anybody but him seeing me in that condtion!!! It's bad enough they can hear me in the hall. I'm a screamer!!!!!!!!
my old man and my mom they r closest to me
Definitely my husband. I don't want a room crowded with people because its like if you pick one person, another person will feel bad u didnt choose them and it goes on and on. I'd like my mom and my mother-in-law in the room but then i'd have to have my dad and father-in-law. I just like keeping it small and leaving it at my hubby. He's stronger than them all!
My father because he is a retired OB/GYN and my husband is from a culture that doesn't believe in men being in the delivery room. He would totally freak out if I insisted, so I'm not going to.
