What's the best form of birth control besides abstienence?

I seem to forget to take pills, though I'm not totally ruling out that option. The thing is though, I'm allergic to a lot of medications. I'm still a virgin, but I'm wanting on birth control so if something does happen, then I'm safe. I know to use a condom, but I need another option to go with it aswell.

Answers:
How about a patch? The patch is safe for most women and very secure. You can't forget to take it or use it because it is always there for you for a long period (up to one year). Do you have any allergies or side effect problems with medications?

How old are you? How often do you plan to have sex?

Please send me an e-mail and I can tell you much more.

Anal.

Well i have the 3 monthly injection. I suggest that you go to your doctor or family planning clinic and talk with them or pick up their leaflets..... Get an IUD

ask your doctor about depo its a birth control shot. plus they now make a patch

The shot - if you're not allergic

talk to your dr to see what options are out there that will work with your life.
it's great that you know the pill isn't a great option for you...maybe the new "ring" that is inserted and stays there for a week at a time...or the patch...
talk to your dr!

maybe u should try the patch, it goes on and blends in with your skin no one will ever know

my best friend tried it and she doesn't have kids yet Depends if you are good about taking pills everyday. If can remember a pill the pill is the best. If you cant get the depo shot it has more side effects than the pill but at least you cant forget it.

Try the pill*, Maybe the Depo Shot*. Long term solutions

IF you can't do that. Try spermicide*, works great especially when combined with condom.

*These forms of birth control do not protect you against STD

I am very similar to you always forget pills, and cant take alot of forms of contraception. I explained this to my doctor who suggested implanon (an implant put in the top part of your arm) It lasts for 3 years, doesn't hurt, you cant see it and works really well. I have only had one problem, a period for about a month, but apparently this calms down after the first 3-6months and you can take additional pills to stop the periods (which doesnt matter if you forget it). Hopefully you are able to have this because it is so convienient! you could try the depo provera shot, it is a shot that you get once every three months and it is very effective it is the only thing that i have found that works for me here is some more information on it

talk to your doctor about it and see if it would work for you by the way it makes me not have a period i have not had a period in about 5 months (when i started taking it) and it is awesome

I really suggest that you try the pills, or perhaps the patch. Word of warning: the shot makes u gain weight...a lot of it. It's known to blow people up in size, literally...so try to be a lil' more responsible and take the pills. It'd probably be your best bet...and think real hard, cuz if it's hard for u to keep up with takin' pills, maybe ur not ready to keep up with sex either...cuz kids come with it. Please stay the way you are. Don't give it up to no one except your husband. Men will use you like a trash can and leave you hanging dry.

I would say the depo shot but you gain weight as a side effect. which is a downside.

I would continue to abstain if you can. Save it for marriage, it's the most precious gift you can give your husband. HOWEVER, if that's not an option, DON'T use the depro prevera. That ruined my life. I gained 50 lbs in TWO MONTHS. My periods stopped all together and I had a horrible smell that no matter what, I couldn't get rid of. The female body was meant to have the flow to wash away the impurities, don't take anything that promises to slow or stop your periods. God intended for us to have them and we need them.
