1 Week Due...?

Question:
My wife is due on June 18 and she worries she hasnt yet been able to get any signs for labor. Everybody is now advising her ethier to go on regular walks or do some manual work.
Is there any specific way to acheive early signs of labor or it all depends on Mother nature

Most of what you will hear on here are going to be old wives tales or coincidences. The only proven way to help get something started is nipple stimulation and your doctor will tell you that also.

Now personally I believe the baby comes when the baby is ready and I don't do anything to try and make it come faster. I was my doctor's favorite patient because of that, I wasn't always complaining and asking for her to induce me :)!

As for signs it just depends on the woman. I contracted for 3 days with my son (first pregnancy) they were 5 mins apart 30 seconds long. Now that made it hard to sleep .. lol. With my daughter I woke up in the morning with contractions that were erratic most of the day until about the last hour or so before I gave birth - I contracted for 12 hours. I had no other indicators earlier in the week that made me believe I was going to go into labor besides the fact that I was due :)!

If this is your wife's first pregnancy she will probably go right up to her due date or over. And if she goes over the due date just remember it's an estimate not set in stone.

CONGRATS on the little one!

Other Answers:
take thirty minute walks bring water though. try having sex. if she has a yoga or exceise ball have her sit on it and rock back and forth might help bring the baby lower and bring on labor
I didnt have any signs either, I went walking and I had my baby on the due date!!!
One thing I have learned with working with many pregnant women, is that babies have their own time schedule. Let her body and the baby determine when they are ready.
Walks are supposed to help, just try not to be too far away from the house if her water breaks.

Experience
They say having sex can help the process
She shoudlnt feel too badly, my wife is due on the 24th, and is in the exact same boat. Very uncomfortable and complaining a lot, but absolutely no signs of labor. At least there are 2 of us guys suffering through this at the same time, LOL
You can't force labor - babies come when they're ready. They may come before or after the due date. My cousin was in early labor for six days - just crampy contractions - before she went into full labor, and she was six days past her due date. My friend was in full hard labor for 64 hours before having a C-section on her actual due date.

Tell her to walk daily - even two or three times a day. If she goes more than a week past her due date, she should speak to her doctor.

Remember: due dates are ONLY a guesstimate!!!!

Usually it all depends on nature. Your wife may not see any signs of labor until it is time. Or she may begin seeing the signs now or sometime soon. But, if you're worried I would suggest seeing a doctor.
hey nick! besides the walking which is great also have plenty of sex as this puts pressure on the uterus which will increase the chances of going into labor.
the best way to have intercourse with a pregnant partner would be to have her lay on her back as if she was on a table in a position like she would be when delivering. this will keep you from putting too much pressure on her.
maintaining her usual level of activity is the safe thing to do. overexertion at any stage of pregnancy is dangerous for both the mother and child. nature will make her go into labor in the next week or two or her obgyn will reccommend induction. just take heart in the fact that she has been able to carry the baby to full term and it's no more than 2 weeks away before you get to hold your new baby!

and what ever you do....do not try any of the old wives tales about castor oil, various teas or herbal supplements. these can have very drastic reults that endanger your wife and baby!
When I was due, I went to my massage therapist and she performed a massage on my feet. Apparently we have trigger points on our feet that help induce labor. (ONLY TO BE DONE WHEN YOU HAVE REACHED FULL TERM!) I didn't go into labor until 2 days later but it sure beat them having to induce me and waiting till I was 2 weeks overdue.
walking will help, if she is near thestart. If you have an exercise ball sit on it and move your hips isn a circular motion. that will help releave any pressure on her hips. Sex, help by geting a hormone started that helps during child burth. But only if she feels up to it. Good luck on the birth of your baby.

I work on a maternity ward
Have sex!!!!
Normally mother nature will do the trick. . . When I went into labor, had no signs prior, I was simply watching tv one night, and BOOM,,, contractions. . . But, what helps believe it or not, is sex and spicy food, this was told by my doctor with my second child and it really worked for me and it will not harm the baby in any way...
WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO HAVE SIGNS OF LABOR? ONCE YOU BEGIN YOU MAY WISH YOU WERE'NT FEELING IT. ANYWAYS,IS SHE VISITING THE DOCTOR REGULARLY? IF SO THE DOCTOR WILL INFORM YOU IF SHRE HAS DIALATED OR NOT AND IF SO HOW FAR. ONE THING A WOMAN WILL/MAY EXPERIENCE CLOSE TO HER DELIVERY IARE CHARLIE HORSES IN THE CALF OF THE LEG. AS FOR THE EXERCISING, A WOMAN SHOULD,IF CAPABLE, AT THE LEAST WALK THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY,WALKING/EXERCISING MAKES FOR A MUCH SMOOTHER DELIVERY, AS LONG AS THERE ARE NO HEALTH COMPLICATIONS.
she just do some walking,,,,,,,,,,it will happen eventually
Its all about mother nature. My cousin tried every old wives tale, and had to be induced at 12 days overdue. sorry...every woman is different...you just need towait it out
