I had my membranes stripped/swept yesterday and the doctor told me I would have some spotting after it..?

I had spotting like three hours after she did it and Im still having it today 24 hours after the procedure. When should it stop or do you think it means something else? I was at 3cm when she stripped them.

Answers:
The bloody show is probably your mucous plug. It is the earliest stage of labor - it could mean you could have a baby in your arms in an hour, or it could mean a week! Each labor is different and unique.

As long as your water hasn't broken, having sex could help move things along, since semen contains the same kind of prostaglandins as the gel that they use to induce labor at the hospital.

Make sure you get lots of rest! You will need it!

Exercising (brisk walking if you can manage, or swimming) can also help to move things along. Try not to sit on the couch, this can encourage baby to be posterior (spine along your spine, instead of spine along your tummy ) and a posterior labor usually means a lot of back pain and usually a more difficult delivery (my posterior back labor ended in a cesarean after 27 hours). Laying on your side, standing, and if you have an exercise ball, sitting on that also encourages good baby positioning, and can be a great tool while you are in labor as well (for sitting on).

Best wishes for a safe and happy birth!

it could be the beigining of labor. its called the bloody show its gross sorry. call your obgyn and ask them

my friend had that done and she had alot of bleeding also, but call you doctor Just to be Sure!! Call your doctor . Only she can tell you for sure as she knows your condition and history . Personally when the doctor scrapped mine I continued to spot right up untill I delivered ! Which was 5 days later .

It sounds completely normal. Sometimes you'll notice the bleeding for a few days after this procedure. It was actually 2 weeks until I delivered my daughter after my doctor did this and I ended up being induced. Just goes to show every pregnancy is very different. Of course if your concerned call you ob/gyn!

Good Luck and Congrats

It honestly could be the beginning stages of labor. Besides if you were that dialated already, you may have Bloody Show too.

I would DEFINITELY call my OB......you don't want to get to far in and risk infection.

Good luck and congrats.
