how do i know if i'm having a ectopic pregnancy and if i am do it still shows positive when i take a preg test

First of all, ectopic pregnancies DO show up positive in some, but not all, pregnancy tests. You should get a blood serum HCG Quantitative test done ASAP, specially if you suspect an ectopic. Once you know for sure that you are indeed pregnant, go to your Gyno IMMEDIATELY and tell him/her why you suspect an ectopic. He/she will most likely do an ultrasound to either confirm or rule out the diagnosis. Sadly, if you have an ectopic pregnancy, you won't be able to go on any further with it; the doctor MUST operate ASAP and remove it. This is done because, as the embryo grows, it will run out of space and rupture your fallopian tube, which will cause heavy internal bleeding. About 95% of all ectopics develop in the fallopian tubes; the remainder may grow in an ovary, an intestine, the cervix, or bladder. I saw a case of a 44y/o woman who had had an hysterectomy done when she was 32{her uterus was removed, but not her ovaries} with a 18-week male fetus attached to her LIVER; chances are I won't see another case like this in my lifetime but it can and does happen; I believe it because I SAW IT with my own eyes. If you are experiencing pelvic pain, specially if it's localized at one of the sides, feel faint, pass out, or have sudden heavy vaginal bleeding, DON'T WAIT; call 911 and go to an ER at once, because these are the most common signs of a ruptured ectopic, and your life may be in danger. I don't want to make you scared, but in these cases immediate medical attention is imperative, and it's always best to be on the safe side of things. I wish you the best of luck, and hope that my advise has been of some help.

Yes, the pregnancy test will still indicated pregnancy because it's within your blood.
