Belly Ring while pregnant?

Question:
Ok everyone said that i needed to take my belly ring out as soon as i found out that i was pregnant but with the ring being there and my stomach beginning to strech will it effect the size of the hole and will i ever be able to wear one again. I've also heard nasty rumors about strech marks around the hole itself is any of that true?

Answers:
i have my belly button pierced, I just recently had to take it out and i am 6 months preggie. you will be able to tell when you should take it out because your belly button actually starts to grow out with your stomach.the hole does stretch but not usually until the middle of the 4th month i would say. it is different for everyone, so use your best judgement just dont leave it in or you definately will get a scar around that area because of the stretching.

if you havent had the piercing for that long, try tying a piece of fishing line in the hole that gives a lot of room for growth :)

Other Answers:
Don't worry about it until you start to show... about your 4th to 6th month.

Who knows -- and why have one anyway. They are nasty looking. it will hurt and your hole of the percing might stretch

yeah that will happen. it can also get torn out when you get bigger...ouch! I'd lose it!

cant you just wait. i would have thought that your unborn babys safety is more important

well the hole will get bigger if you are pregnant and you have the belly ring i think you should take it out if you are You will want to take it out soon, believe me. But, other than that you also will likely find your belly isn't quite up to par for a beely ring immediatley after the baby comes. Best wishes

if you take your belly ring out, you will have to get it re-pierced. if you don't , then there is a possibility of it (a) tearing the skin (b) causing stretch marks -because of the space it takes up- and (c) it can cause infection to be given to the baby. don't ask me how, my sister had (a) and (b) . but if you want to keep it, it's your choice.

my aunt is 8 mounths pregnant and has her belly ring in

Studid idea mate. NOPE ITS A STUPID RUMOR >:(

yes, you have to take it off if you're pregnant to prevent any possible infections

Well, you really should ask your doctor about those questions. I would suggest that you could wear the ring for awhile, but, once you get bigger, you might want to take it off. Please ask your doctor, though. He/She is the person who will really know the answer.

You can buy a special bar to put in your belly button for while your pregnant as for the stretch mark thing, i think if your going to get them your going to get them and theres not much you can do about it!!! But i didn't get any around my belly button!!

Hope this helps!!

It is true, and it looks disgusting, I have seen it happen to people, sadly. Just get it re-pierced, if necessary. um, when your belly button starts to stretch during the last trimester, you could end up tearing right there..........but, why not, it will provide an emergency rip cord for the kid to get out in case of emergency! Yay!

K.. the stretch marks around the hole itself can happen. The hole can stretch out, but should go back to close to its normal size after the baby is born. It's possible that everything will be fine and nothing will happen like that. You never know how your belly will grow until it happens. It all depends on you and what you want. You don't have to take it out if you don't want to. There is nothing that your OB would say about it. It's a personal choice and it won't effect the baby at all.

Hmmm, I'm not quite sure if that's true. I think your best bet is to visit or call up a physician and get his opinon on the matter. Take care :)

i wouldn't worry take it out you start to show after you had the baby the skin should go back to normal and i don't see why you won't be able to put it back. My daughter had her baby 20 months ago. She took her ring out at about 3 months pregnant, at her doctors recommendation. She is very glad she did. Even though she took it out early, she still had / has problems. She did not gain a tremendous amount of weight, but the skin on the top edge of her belly-button stretched horribly and now hangs down over it. She will never be able to wear a ring there again even if she wanted to re-pierce it.

Belly button rings are not a good idea if you ever plan on having children.

Nothing is going to happen to you or your baby if you have a belly ring in. I had mine in until I was seven months and my belly stretched out so far my ring just stuck out really wierd. My sister in law had hers in all the way through her pregnancy, and just took it out while she was in the hospital. It really is just up to the way your belly grows.... You dont have to take it out the minute you find out you are pregnant, or the second you have a little pooch. Its fine to leave it in until your belly is really stretched and you can tell that skin is getting tight. If you have had it for long enough, it won't grow up that quickly. As for the stretch marks, rub vitamin E oil and Palmers Cocoa Butter for stretch marks on your stomach, thighs, breasts, and lower back at least once a day until you deliver, then on your breasts for another month or so and you hopefully won't have any issues. If you do, keep up with the Palmer's, it will help fade them away.

My doctor told me I could keep mine until I actually give birth. Baby bumps are hot and even hotter with jewels!

when ur stomach starts to stick out (show) pull it out cause soon u wont have a belly botton (it will either be flat or it will stick out)

I don't think it matters...I only had to take mine out because I was sore....as far as the whole stretching it would depend how long you have been pierced...I was pierced for a couple years before i was pregant and I took mine out around the 6th month because I was tender...i ended up having to get the whole streched like they do for people who have plugs in their ears...it wasn't too bad...I guess its up to you...Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck :) K I have one too and I'm 21 weeks pregnant.
I actually took mine out, just cause it was freaking me out a little...but also...I'm using a cocoa butter stretch mark prevention cream...and it was alot easier to not have to go around the rings...
I have put it in everyonce in a while...but don't leave it in like I used to. Plus it pressing on my clothes feels gross now...lol

You can totally put them in after pregnancy. Assuming they are already healed open...you shouldn't have any problems.

I have nipple rings too and I took them out just because they are so sensative right now...but I put those in every once in a while too just to make sure I still can.

I'd take them out when you get bigger, but no worries...they'll be fine afterwards.

it was sooo cute on me all the way til birth
