My doctor says a woman can get pregnant between 11th to 18th day from her periods.?

We are still trying since last 5 month but unable to get pregnant but last month month we do intercourse between 5th to 8th day from the first period and my wife get preganant! Is it possible.
Answer:
People who are telling you that she can get pregnant any day of her cycle are dead wrong. Women can ONLY get pregnant if they are ovulating. A woman with a regular cycle will ovulate 12 - 14 days after the first day of her period. (your doc probably told you 11th to 18th just to cover extra ground in case her cycle isnt regular.) You can also buy an ovulation test, or tell her to pay attention to when she has mucus like discharge. (i know its gross, but its true). A home remedy is to take robitussin on the days when youre ovulating, it worked for my sister. It thins out your cervical mucus and makes it easier for sperm to pass through.
Other Answer:
Yes. The days do not matter. A girl can get pregnant any of the days even the days during her period. Many people use the days as a way not to get pregnant and often do.
she can get pregant when she is ovualting...
you might want to watch what she drinks...as the acid in some drinks(Cranberry juice) can make her uterus too acidic for the sperm...too much exercise can aslo be a factor...as it changes the chemicals in her body...
having intercourse too many times can also lower the sperm count, making it harder to concive
that's what my OB told when I was trying....
I answered your other question. I think you should try an ovulation test!
oviosuly if she pregnant its possible.. a woman can get pregnant at anytime it doesn't matter, she just has more a chance of getting pregnant during the ovulation period
go to http://www.mymonthlycycles.com and type in your period info and it will calculate when you will be fertile and when your ovulation day will be as well.

Women ovulate 14 days before the day their period begins. It's during those few days that a woman is most likely to get pregnant. Still, that doesn't mean that it's safe to have sex without protection during other times of the month and be guaranteed of not getting pregnant.

This is a great question and one that causes many people a lot of confusion and anxiety. The short answer is that a woman can get pregnant at anytime of the month. However, the greatest chance of conception occurs just before, during, and after ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). Typically, ovulation occurs 14 days before the day that the next menstrual cycle is expected in women with regular 28-day cycles.

Unfortunately, it is more complicated than that. Few women have regular 28-day cycles and therefore you can only determine when ovulation probably occurred after you start your period. To throw another loop into it, sperm can live for 2-3 days in the fallopian tubes and it takes only one sperm out of the millions in an ejaculation to fertilize an egg. So, while there are definitely certain times of the month that a woman is more likely to get pregnant than others, counting days is not a reliable way to predict fertility and is a therefore an ineffective method of birth control.
if your wife's periods are in a regular cyle of 28 days then that is ok. if she has any pcod problems she has to consult with the gyenacologist. for a normal woman ovilation will be on the 13th or 14th day. sperm can wait for the egg for 48 hours. 5th and 8th day is not usefull.
A woman with an exact cycle which is 28 days long to the second ovulates 14 days after the first day of her period. I don't think there are that many woman who have such precise cycles. Some women ovulate during their periods, some ovulate the day before their periods, and so on. So yes, it is possible that your wife got pregnant on the 5th day to the 8th day.

Congratulations! and good luck.
Well...if it happened, then obviously it *is* possible! A woman ovulates about 2 weeks (12-16 days usually) before her *next* period. There is no way to time it by counting forward from the previous period. A woman with 21 day cycles will ovulate around day 7, and a woman with 40 day cycles will ovulate around day 26.

And anyone who says that ovulation doesn't matter probably still believes in the stork!! If there is no egg to fertilize, there will be *no* baby. It isn't magic!

Sperm can live in the female body for up to 3 (sometimes 5) days. The egg only lives 12-24 hours. So you have to have sex *before* ovulation to get pregnant. Your doctor *should* have told you to have sex 11-18 days *before* the next period was due in order to have the best chance of getting pregnant.
