"how do we get our son who nearly 4 to stay in he own beds without he mother sleeping beside him"?
Answers:
During the day, talk to him and explain that it isn't normal for a child to sleep with his mother. Tell him your plan for changing that and follow through with it consistently.
Then at night, remind him of your conversation and gently put him in the bed and walk away. If you don't appear anxious, he will probably get it. If he doesn't, let him cry. Watch Nanny 911 for help.
Make sure his bed/room is a place where he feels safe - with a nightlight, clean, so there aren't any monster shadows.
If you aren't strong enough to handle letting him cry, try getting up early and going to your own bed, so that he is waking up by himself. Do that earlier and earlier.
that is a really hard transition for children! offer him some kind of small reward for sleeping in his own bed. even if he does for only half the night! make sure to praise him for every attempt! most of all just keep trying! it's hard, i've been there myself as a mom!
