How Do You Protect Your Family From Child Protective Services?

If Child Protective Services (CPS) knocked on your door, would you know what to do? If your children are seized by these out of control criminals acting under color and pretense of law and they file a petition for state custody of your children, would you know what to do in the family court? Do you really believe you will get true justice from the judge or will s/he just side with CPS and give them whatever they want?

Find out how you can protect yourself and fight for your family at the LIFE (Liberty Independence & Family Equality) site at http://www.life-vs-cps.com/ Your family, your way of life and the life of your children may depend on your knowledge. If you don't know your rights, you have none!

I wanted to respond to your question before I check out this web site. My 3 grandchildren have been in foster care for 9 months now. My daughter had a drug problem and her x husband was very abusive to her. The children was adjudicated then removed and put in foster care the older 2 separate from the youngest, since DHS had a family that wanted to adopt her. All this time my husband and I have been fighting DHS and the courts to place the children with us. They have made us look like we are the bad ones and termination for my daughter's parental rights are about to happen. The father has volunteered his termination. We are hoping and praying we will be allowed to adopt these children so they can be with family. For the last 7 months we have been allowed 2 hours a month to have supervised visitations with these children. What is really happening here? It seems like this whole process was decided months ago when the youngest child was placed with this other family. We do have an attorney on this, but it is hard to beat the system.

everyone has the right to discipline their child
They wouldnt be at your door if you werent doing anything wrong. they will not allow children to be hurt by abusive parents. Cps is good and they want the best for children. if they want to take your kids away and have reason to, good ridince. you shouldnt have children if you are going to abusive them you freak!

common sense
Ok. Usually there has to be a complaint filed by someone (family, teachers, neighbors) before CPS will become involved. They also call and give you a heads up unless they deem the situation serious enough. I am sorry to tell you that CPS does not just knock on peoples doors to check and see if their children are being neglected or abused. Sounds like you have had some bad luck or something. If you take reasonable care of your children there will be no cause for CPS to become involved in your family life.
well I know that for me, I am grateful for CPS. They did knock on my door and took custody of my kids, and rightfully so..........see my husband and I are recovering drug addicts, I am so glad they could help my kids when I was not being a mother to them, today I have been clean 2 1/2 years, and I have full cutody and rights back to my beautiful kids. I did follow a case plan, and CPS is no longer in our life.

I guess the quesion is are they knocking at your door and if so, why????
CPS is here to PROTECT THE CHILDREN...If they showed up at my door, I'd cooperate, I have nothing to hide. I sure wouldn't go on a tirade calling them out ot control criminals, etc, etc. CPS does not WANT to take children away from their parents...many states have very strong family reunification goals, trying everything to keep families together, even if it means placing children in kinship care (with relatives). They provide resources to HELP families stay together in healthy ways...
so go on with your mis-guided view of the system...better yet...
DON'T MIS-TREAT CHILDREN AND YOU JUST WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THIS!
first of all, they are not allowed into your home without a warrant(in california) neither are the police. It's against your 4th ammendment rights. They are not allowed to interview your kids without you or a person approved by you present.Any judge with half a brain knows this. The CPS person could be sued for violation of this right. If they force their way in,against your will, they are again in clear violation of the 4th.It's called illegal search and seizure.

As with all bureaucratic, state funded organizations, there are decent local chapters out there...but also very corrupt, or just plain incompetent ones. Children obviously should be protected from abusive adults and unfit environments, but intervention shouldn't automatically include throwing the kids into foster homes. And in some places this just happens too easily...and stinks suspiciously of corruption.

I'm never concerned about CPS coming after my own child, but thanks anyway for the link. Maybe every parent should be informed, eh?
